With an extra distance race and up to four individuals available, that makes for a lot of extra swims. A prelim or two can get away from you.<\/p>\n<p>And depending on the caliber of swimmer you are, that might not matter.<\/p>\n<p>Friday delivered a lesson in that, with the outside lane of Lane 2 at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville delivering titles to seventh-seeded <strong>Gwen Bergum<\/strong> in the women\u2019s 100 breaststroke and <strong>Jacob Hamlin<\/strong> in the men\u2019s 500 freestyle. She took control within the first 100 and never let it go, her winning margin more than 2.5 seconds. The Missouri St. Louis swimmer was fourth last year before capturing the school\u2019s first national title this week.<\/p>\n<p>Nova Southeastern cashed in by <strong>Hailey Williams<\/strong> finishing second in 4:50.63 and <strong>Emilia Ronningdal<\/strong> third in 4:51.11. That stretches the Sharks\u2019 team lead to 72.5 points.<\/p>\n<p>Colorado Mesa\u2019s <strong>Olivia Hansson<\/strong> was fourth, with <strong>Hanna Sasivarevic<\/strong> seventh. After setting the NCAA record in 4:14.62 last year, he went 4:14.35 this time around. Instead of a six-second margin of victory, he was pushed this time around, with Findlay\u2019s <strong>Sebastian Camacho Gomez<\/strong> second in 4:15.92.<\/p>\n<p>With <strong>Barnabas Fluck<\/strong> in seventh, Tampa moves to the lead six points up on Drury.<\/p>\n<p>Indy\u2019s <strong>Swann Plaza<\/strong> was third in 4:17.63. She was 3.5 seconds ahead of the field as the first D2 swimmer to break 51 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>After Naskret\u2019s dominance was a muddied mess. Second was <strong>Vittoria Porietti<\/strong> of Grand Valley in 54.60. <strong>Sidni Meister<\/strong> of Tampa was third in 54.68. The Lynn senior went 45.78, the clear winner by more than a half second over the field.<\/p>\n<p>Though Drury, which moved back into the lead by nine points, won\u2019t feel hard done. <strong>Alvaro Zornoza Quiros<\/strong> went 46.34 for second place for the second straight year. <strong>Ivan Adamchuk,<\/strong> last year\u2019s winner, was third in 46.45. A tie for third knotted <strong>Celina Schmidt<\/strong> of Indy and <strong>Alena Rozova<\/strong> of West Florida.
