It\u2019s not the 51.24 she led off the medley relay with, but there\u2019s time for that.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a busy moving day at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Indiana. (Hers on Wednesday was <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.umsl.edu\/news\/2026\/03\/12\/justice-beard-national-championship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">just the third in school history<\/a> and the first in the swimming pool.) Beard was the top seed in the morning by going 4:49.30. She rebounded well from an off night in the 200 free, where she entered seeded ninth but ended up at the bottom of the B final.<\/p>\n<p>Nova Southeastern\u2019s <strong>Hailey Williams<\/strong> was second in 4:51.93. With she and <strong>Emilia Ronningdal<\/strong> in fourth, the Sharks can build on their lead in the team competition. So he may have been playing it coy in prelims by finishing five seconds slower than his seed time. If so, it was a dangerous game, the reigning champion and national record holder skating into the A final in seventh by .38 seconds to get an outside lane.<\/p>\n<p>The Tampa senior will be chasing from that outside lane. He\u2019ll have teammate <strong>Barnabas Fluck,<\/strong> the fifth seed, next to him. They\u2019ll be pursuing <strong>Swann Plaza,<\/strong> the bronze medalist in the 1,000, who set the pace in 4:20.17. He was a half-second up on Catawba\u2019s <strong>Nazar Herashchenko<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the team race, Drury pushed <strong>Matteo Vissotto<\/strong> into the A final in fourth. Tampa has <strong>Elliott Weisel<\/strong> 10th. She won this event last year in 51.52.<\/p>\n<p>Nova Southeastern doesn\u2019t have a backstroker in the top 16, so this is a chance for the chasers to move. Tampa could take advantage, with <strong>Sidni Meister<\/strong> second and <strong>Lindsay Louder<\/strong> third. Colorado Mesa has <strong>Taylar Hooton<\/strong> in the A final in fifth. Last year\u2019s silver medalist backed it with a 46.24 in prelims. He entered as the co-top seed in 46.14 with someone who\u2019s swimming pretty darn well: Lynn\u2019s <strong>Maurice Grabowski.<\/strong> The senior was the third seed in the morning in 46.51. Already the champion in the 50 free and 100 fly, you might not want to bet against him.<\/p>\n<p>In between was Carson-Newman\u2019s <strong>Gabriel Morales<\/strong> in 46.38. Drury has a second A finalist in <strong>Ivan Adamchuk,<\/strong> who won this event last year but has been off his best this season. Prelims offered few hints: .65 seconds separating eight A finalists, then .61 separating eight B finalists. Twenty-five swimmers were within 2.01 seconds of leader <strong>Annika Luce<\/strong> of Wingate, who went 1:01.26.<\/p>\n<p>Both of the 1:00 seeds made it back, top seed <strong>Celina Schmidt<\/strong> of Indy second in 1:01.34 and second seed <strong>Gwen Bergum<\/strong> seventh in 1:01.89. Of eight swimmers with 1:01 seed times, four made the A final, two the B final, and two no second swim at all. Findlay\u2019s <strong>Helmi Kakela<\/strong> was third, but teammate Katie Susi was ninth after A finaling last year. Nova Southeastern has an A finalist in <strong>Zsofia Kurdi<\/strong> in fourth. He was .39 seconds up on Lynn\u2019s <strong>Maxim Tsyfarov.<\/strong> Four other swimmers broke 53 seconds, led by <strong>Joao Nogueira<\/strong> of Drury in third. The Panthers pushed <strong>Elliott Weber<\/strong> into eighth place.<\/p>\n<p>Indy has just Pock to score. Tampa has <strong>Britton Spann<\/strong> in 11th. He\u2019s .17 seconds ahead of <strong>Vitaly Kostin<\/strong> of Lynn, who as the runner-up in this event last year. Kostin tied with <strong>Akos Hajagos<\/strong> of Florida Tech.<\/p>\n<p>In the team race, Tampa pushed two into the A final, with <strong>Nicholas Cavic<\/strong> sixth and <strong>Joshua Noll<\/strong> eighth.
