To no one\u2019s surprise, <strong>Regan Smith<\/strong> led the way in a deep field that features four American Olympians.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the session, <strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> went 23.95 in the 50 fly, which was good only for 10th place and a B final swim. Dressel later finished 12th in the prelims of the 100 free, an event which saw <strong>Chris Guiliano<\/strong> set the Pro Swim Series record with a time of 47.38 downing the decade-old mark set by <strong>Nathan Adrian<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The opening day in Westmont includes the 100 freestyle, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-pro-series-stop-in-westmont-will-utilize-new-format-in-100-meter-events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which at this event involves prelims-semis-finals format<\/a>. There\u2019s a gap back to <strong>Dare Rose<\/strong> in third in 23.62.<\/p>\n<p>Other American mainstays in the A final include <strong>Shaine Casas<\/strong> in sixth and <strong>Matt King<\/strong> in seventh. Erisman set the pace in 54.78, with both <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> (54.87) and <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> (54.97) breaking 55 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Seven swimmers were in the 55s, led by <strong>Kalia Antoniou\u2019s<\/strong> 55.08. <strong>Anna Peplowski<\/strong> was fifth in 55.13. Canadian <strong>Ruslan Gaziev, Lamar Taylor<\/strong> of the Bahamas and Australia\u2019s <strong>Matthew Temple<\/strong> rounded out the top eight, which do go to semifinals.<\/p>\n<p>Also among
