Kharun also clocked 18.47 in prelims.

Kharun finished two tenths ahead of Remi Fabiani, an ASU graduate student who went 18.68. Adam Chaney, another Sun Devil in his bonus year, went 18.81 for third while Jonny Kulow was fourth (18.86) and Tommy Palmer sixth (18.92). Tolu Young just missed the 18-second club with a time of 19.00, and Quin Seider was also in the A-final.

The times by Kharun, Fabiani, Chaney and Kulow add up to 1:14.81, and with the addition of relay starts, the group is in position to challenge the NCAA record of 1:12.80 set by Tennessee last season. ASU head coach Herbie Behm will have tough choices to make for the lineup, but those four men are locks to race Friday when ASU takes its first shot at the record. Helping the cause will be the pedigree of Kulow, an experienced sprinter who has posted 17-second relay splits in the past.

Event 12 Men 50 Yard Freestyle
=========================================================================
NCAA D1: ! 17.63  3/22/2018 Caeleb Dressel
American: $ 17.63  3/22/2018 Caeleb Dressel
US Open: & 17.63  3/22/2018 Caeleb Dressel
Big 12: * 18.31  3/27/2025 Ilya Kharun, Arizona State
Meet: # 18.47 2/25/2026 Ilya Kharun, Arizona State
NCAA Qualify: A 19.43
NCCA Invit25:   19.02
Name Year School Prelims Finals Points
=========================================================================
=== A - Final ===

1 Kharun, Ilya           JR ASU                 18.47      18.46#  32
r:+0.65  9.09         18.46 (9.37)
2 Fabiani, Remi          GS ASU                 18.87      18.68A  28
r:+0.62  8.85         18.68 (9.83)
3 Chaney, Adam           GS ASU                 18.84      18.81A  27
r:+0.64  9.04         18.81 (9.77)
4 Kulow, Jonny           SR ASU                 18.87      18.86A  26
r:+0.63  9.07         18.86 (9.79)
5 Palmer, Tommy          SR ASU                 19.01      18.92A  25
r:+0.63  8.93         18.92 (9.99)
6 Young, Tolu            SO ASU                 18.96      19.00A  24
r:+0.60  8.99        19.00 (10.01)
7 Henderson, Duncan      FR ARIZ                19.12      19.16A  23
r:+0.62  9.34         19.16 (9.82)
8 Seider, Quin           SO ASU                 19.22      19.25A  22
r:+0.63  9.02        19.25 (10.23)

Men’s 3-Meter Diving

Arizona made a charge in men’s 3-meter diving thanks to freshman Luke Hernandez, who scored 427.60 points to win by just over two points over Utah’s Elias Peterson, who had a second-place total of 425.30.
