Now, Liendo is back in the pool to begin his individual slate. The University of Florida senior clocked 43.26 in prelims to come within a half-second of the fastest time in history, and he went even quicker at night, going 43.06 to tie the second-fastest time in history. He followed that up with a 42-second relay split later in the session.<\/p>\n<p>The 100 fly was one of six individual events contested Thursday evening, along with the women&#8217;s equivalent event, the women&#8217;s and men&#8217;s 400 IM, 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay plus women&#8217;s 3-meter diving.<\/p>\n<p>In the team competition, the Texas women moved ahead of Tennessee thanks to a win from\u00a0<strong>Campbell Stoll<\/strong> in the 100 fly and strong depth throughout the schedule. Texas has 718 points, followed by Tennessee (647) and Florida (563.5). For the men, the Longhorns remain in dominant position with 813.5 points, ahead of Florida (703) and Tennessee (585.5). Stoll turned in sixth place at the halfway point, 0.35 behind leader\u00a0<strong>Mizuki Hirai<\/strong>, but she came back in 26.43 to power past the field and get to the wall in 50.35. The only swimmers to go faster this season are Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Torri Huske<\/strong>, Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Claire Curzan<\/strong>, Indiana&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Miranda Grana<\/strong>,\u00a0Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gigi Johnson<\/strong> and Indiana&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alex Shackell<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Hirai grabbed second in 50.46. The Tennessee freshman was an Olympic and World Championship finalist in the 100-meter fly, and she has made a quick adjustment to yards competition to boost the Lady Vols, nursing a one-point lead over the Longhorns. He threw down a statement performance in the SEC final as he put a scare into the NCAA and U.S. Open records held since 2018 by another University of Florida sprinting great,\u00a0<strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong>. Liendo blasted out a 19.95 opening split, four hundredths ahead of Dressel&#8217;s record pace. He could not quite maintain that speed down the stretch, but he still hit the wall in 43.06.<\/p>\n<p>That time matched the 43.06 Liendo swam at the 2025 NCAA Championships for the second-fastest mark ever. Liendo also has a 43.07 on his ledger from 2024. Liendo did take down the SEC Championships record of 43.23 from last season. Another two-tenth drop from the conference meet to the national one would put him in range of Dressel&#8217;s record.<\/p>\n<p>Second place went to Tennessee&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gui Caribe<\/strong> in 43.93. The Volunteers&#8217; senior joined Liendo,\u00a0<strong>Ilya Kharun<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Luca Urlando<\/strong> as the only swimmers under 44 this season. She ended up winning by almost two seconds in 4:01.97, knocking a half-second off the season-best time she swam in a dual meet last month (4:02.50). Jansen, the B-final winner in the event at the 2025 NCAA Championships, has blossomed into a multi-event contender in her sophomore season.<\/p>\n<p>The battle for second place came down to\u00a0<strong>Emily Brown<\/strong>, another Tennessee swimmer, and Texas&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Angie Coe<\/strong>. Brown was in second place throughout the race, but Coe substantially cut into that edge on breaststroke before pulling ahead at the finish, 4:03.94 to 4:04.07. Nelson backed up that effort at the conference meet as he took down reigning NCAA champion and Texas teammate\u00a0<strong>Rex Maurer<\/strong> in a back-and-forth affair. Maurer had the superior front half, using a strong backstroke leg to open up a lead of more than a second, but Nelson fought back with a sensational 1:00.03 breaststroke split. That gave him a two-second edge, enough to hold off the charging Maurer.<\/p>\n<p>Nelson finished in 3:35.75, just off the SEC meet record Maurer set last season. Maurer came in second at 3:36.74, making him the country&#8217;s third-fastest performer this season behind fellow Longhorns Nelson and\u00a0<strong>Cooper Lucas<\/strong>. Well back in third was Georgia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Drew Hitchcock<\/strong> in 3:39.16, just ahead of Florida&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gio Linscheer<\/strong> (3:39.36). This time, it was\u00a0<strong>Camille Spink<\/strong> coming through in an exciting back-and-forth race with Texas&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Nikolett Padar\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 free. Spink trailed by a tenth heading into the final 50 yards, but she split 26.25 to come home on top by four hundredths.<\/p>\n<p>Spink clocked 1:41.71, beating her previous season best by eight tenths. Padar was just behind in 1:41.75 while Georgia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kennedi Dobson<\/strong> earned her second top-three finish of the meet with a third-place time of 1:42.20. Taylor had gone 1:31.03 in prelims, which made him the second-fastest swimmer in the country this season. He swam a half-second slower at night, but it was sufficient to take down LSU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jere Hribar<\/strong> (1:31.65) and Tennessee&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Koby Bujak-Upton<\/strong> (1:31.67).<\/p>\n<p>Just missing podium finishes were Texas&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Rafael Fente-Damers<\/strong> (1:31.71), Georgia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tomas Koski<\/strong> (1:31.75) and Auburn&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Daniel Krichevsky<\/strong> (1:31.87). In the end, the fastest time of the meet belonged to Bujak-Upton, who posted a time of 1:30.77 leading off his team&#8217;s 800 free relay Tuesday. The key leg for Texas was breaststroke, where <strong>Na<\/strong><strong>te Germonprez<\/strong> blasted a 49.02 breaststroke split for the fourth-fastest mark in history.\u00a0<strong>Will Modglin<\/strong> led off for the Longhorns while\u00a0<strong>Hubert Kos<\/strong> handled butterfly duties and <strong>Camden Taylor<\/strong> returned to the pool following his 200 free victory to anchor in 40.62.<\/p>\n<p>Texas swam a time of 2:57.64 to win by more than eight tenths over Florida (2:58.49).\u00a0<strong>Jonny Marshall<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Koen de Groot<\/strong>, Liendo and\u00a0<strong>Devin Dilger<\/strong> swam for the Gators, and Liendo provided the dynamite with a 42.80 butterfly leg.
