The 2026 Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships continued with the Day 2 prelims session on Thursday, Feb. 18, from Minneapolis.<\/p>\n

The events on the docket are the 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke before 1-meter diving prelims.<\/p>\n

Here is a look at what happened Thursday morning:<\/p>\n

Big Ten Women’s 100 Butterfly<\/h3>\n

Indiana freshman Alex Shackell<\/strong> got a strong start to her first Big Ten meet with a top seed in the 100 butterfly. The 2024 Olympian got to the wall in 50.60 to hold off the field by a half second.<\/p>\n

Michigan senior Brady Kendall<\/strong> took the second seed with a swim of 51.03. She and Shackell had entered the meet with the exact same seed time of 50.98.<\/p>\n

Indiana’s Miranda Grana<\/strong> took the third spot in 51.38, followed by two more Wolverines with sophomore Leila Fack<\/strong> (51.52) and junior Lexi Greenhawt<\/strong> (51.73).<\/p>\n

Nebraska junior Beatrix Tanko<\/strong> earned the sixth seed in 51.75, followed by UCLA freshman Jada Duncan<\/strong> (51.86) and Rutgers junior Anna Vlachou<\/strong> (52.16).<\/p>\n

\nBig Ten Women’s 400 IM<\/h3>\n
Michigan junior Bella Sims<\/strong> cruised past the field in the 400 IM, getting to the wall in 4:03.82, nearly three seconds ahead of the competition.<\/p>\n
The Olympian’s time was just two seconds off the meet record. The Wolverines could score a ton of points here as teammate Hannah Bellard<\/strong> took the third seed in 4:06.40.<\/p>\n
UCLA senior Rosie Murphy<\/strong> put together a strong swim to take the second seed in 4:06.21.<\/p>\n
Minnesota junior Katie McCarthy<\/strong> swam to the fourth seed in 4:06.49, followed by Ohio State sophomore Sienna Angove<\/strong> (4:07.60), USC senior Justina Kozan<\/strong> (4:07.92), Wisconsin sophomore Stella Chapman<\/strong> (4:08.20) and Nebraska senior Gena Jorgenson<\/strong> (4:08.33).<\/p>\n

Big Ten Women’s 200 Freestyle<\/h3>\n
Indiana freshman Liberty Clark<\/strong> raced past the field to take the top seed in the 200 free in 1:42.08. Her time was a second and a half faster than the rest of the field.<\/p>\n
Ohio State sophomore Rachel Bockrath t<\/strong>ook he second spot in 1:43.44, just ahead of Michigan junior Stephanie Balduccini<\/strong> (1:43.67), which sets up what could be an extremely close finish.<\/p>\n
USC fifth year Nicole Maier<\/strong> is not out of the mix. Her time of 1:43.76 gave her the fourth seed, while Wisconsin sophomore Maggie Wanezek<\/strong> was at 1:43.89.<\/p>\n
Another Indiana freshman, Grace Hoeper<\/strong>, took the sixth seed in 1:44.876, followed by USC senior Claire Tuggle<\/strong> (1:44.84) and Wisconsin senior Blair Stoneburg<\/strong> (1:44.91).<\/p>\n

Ohio State sophomore Maria Ramos Najji<\/strong> took the top seed in the 100 breaststroke in 58.52, leading a top trio in the event within a half second of each other.<\/p>\n
Michigan senior Letitia Sim<\/strong> was just behind with the second seed in 58.84, while Wisconsin freshman Brooke Corrigan<\/strong> was third in 59.01.<\/p>\n
The fourth seed went to USC freshman Bella Brito<\/strong> (59.71), followed by Wisconsin senior Hazal Ozkan<\/strong> (59.79), USC junior Ashley McMillan<\/strong> (59.92), UCLA junior Sarah Bennetts<\/strong> (59.99) and Michigan freshman Sarah Pasquella<\/strong> (1:00.15).<\/p>\n
