NC State is taking full advantage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quintin McCarty<\/strong> set the meet record in prelims in the 50, then split 18.19 to lead NC State to a conference record in the night finals to kick off the session.\u00a0The Wolfpack went 1:14.02, erasing the conference mark set in 2025 by California. That is a scant .12 seconds off the Meet, Conference, and NCAA record set by a bunch of girls named Walsh in 2024. Curtis was a staggering 20.46 off the end. It also is a McAuley Center pool record.<\/p>\n<p>Second was Standford in 1:25.14. Louisville was third, two tenths behind, and NC State was fourth. The Wolfpack went 1:14.02 with the team of <strong>Jerry Fox, Quintin McCarty, Drew Salls<\/strong> and <strong>Kaii Winkler.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That unseats the meet mark of 1:14.29 that NC State set last year. Cal\u2019s team at NCAAs went 1:14.12. (It\u2019s also under the American record that NC State owns, but German international Winkler obviates that.) And it downs the 1:14.11 pool mark set in 2022 by Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Cal was second in 1:14.81, with an 18.38 from Evan Petty in there. Louisville was third in 1:14.91, followed by Virginia Tech in 1:15.00. The top seed was <strong>Ethan Ekk,<\/strong> while <strong>Ryan Erisman<\/strong> brought it in prelims at 4:11.17.<\/p>\n<p>But Carlsen was the star at night, the freshman going 4:09.44 for the Wolfpack, putting a scare into <strong>Lucas Henveaux\u2019s<\/strong> conference record from last year by six tenths. Ekk was second in 4:11.07. Erisman was slower than prelims to finish third in 4:11.50.
