Swim Ireland Appoints Andy Reid as National Performance Director<\/h4>\n

Swim Ireland<\/strong> has announced the appointment of Andy Reid<\/strong> as National Performance Director.<\/p>\n

Reid has been in the role on an interim basis since May 2025 following the departure of former incumbent Jon Rudd<\/strong> <\/a>to take up a role at the head of the Saudi Arabia performance programme.<\/p>\n

Reid has worked in the Swim Ireland Performance team since 2010 and was formerly the Head of Performance Pathways and Operations.<\/p>\n

As a swimmer he represented Ireland at European and World Championships and Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Games.<\/p>\n

Reid said:\u00a0\u201c<\/em>I am incredibly honoured and proud to be appointed National Performance Director with Swim Ireland. Having been involved in Irish swimming for over 40 years as an athlete, coach and most recently as Head of Performance Pathways and Operations, this role means a great deal to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited by the challenge ahead and the opportunity to build on the strong foundations already in place. We have outstanding athletes, coaches and support staff who are deeply committed to achieving their true potential, representing Ireland with pride on the international stage and challenging for podium finishes. I look forward to working together to continue driving our performance programmes forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swim Ireland chairman Cathal Marley<\/strong> said: \u201cWe are delighted to officially appoint Andy to the role of National Performance Director at a pivotal time for our performance programme. His experience, strategic insight and commitment to athlete-centred performance aligns strongly with Swim Ireland\u2019s vision to inspire and enable excellence at all levels. I am confident Andy will continue to build on our recent progress and drive continued success on the international stage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Interim Swim Ireland CEO Mary McMorrow<\/strong> added: \u201cHaving already served as Interim National Performance Director, and with a deep understanding of the organisation\u2019s systems, people, and performance culture, Andy\u2019s appointment as Performance Director represents a natural and strategically sound progression for Swim Ireland.\u201d<\/p>\n
