{"id":636440,"date":"2026-02-06T18:06:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-07T01:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=636440"},"modified":"2026-02-06T18:06:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-07T01:06:09","slug":"usc-men-top-unlv-in-regular-season-finale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usc-men-top-unlv-in-regular-season-finale\/","title":{"rendered":"USC Men top UNLV in Regular-Season Finale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The USC men&#8217;s swimming and diving team won 15 of 16 events to defeat UNLV 200-61 on Friday, Feb. 6, in the regular-season finale.<\/p>\n<p>The Trojans started with <strong>Michal Chmielewski, Junhao Chan, Jan Bialecki<\/strong> and <strong>Oliver Sogaard-Andersen<\/strong> winning the 200-yard medley relay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thomas Olsen<\/strong> took the 1000 freestyle (9:08.38) for his first win of the day before touching the wall first in the 500 free (4:26.79).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vaggelis Makrygiannis<\/strong> was a double winner, claiming victory in the 200y free (1:33.93) and the 200 backstroke (1:42.67).<\/p>\n<p>Michal was the third Trojan to win both of his individual events on the day. Michal Chmielewski posted a time of 46.43 in the 100 back before taking the win in the 100 fly with a time of 46.14.<\/p>\n<p>Junhao Chan swept both breaststroke events and met the NCAA qualifying standard times in the process. Chan touched the wall with a time of 52.39 and 1:54.45 in the 100 breast and 200 breast respectively.<\/p>\n<p>USC claimed the top four spots in the 100 breast with Chan leading the way followed by <strong>Stuart Timmerman, Keller Morga<\/strong>n and<strong> Nathan Wu<\/strong>. The Trojans repeated with the top four times in the 200y breast with Chan, Filip Mujan, Timmerman and Morgan going one-two-three-four.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charlie Bufton<\/strong> met the qualifying standard in the 200y fly with a time of 1:43.78 to take the event win.<\/p>\n<p>Sogaard-Andersen posted a time of 42.90 in the 100y free.<\/p>\n<p>Mujan took first in the 200 IM to close out the individual events with a time of 1:49.31.<\/p>\n<p>USC closed out the meet with a time of 1:56.36 in the 400 freestyle relay by the team of <strong>Emiliano Zamudio, Pierce O&#8217;Grady, Reid Caswell<\/strong> and <strong>Drew Huston<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>UNLV&#8217;s <strong>Bryson Huey<\/strong> won the 50 freestyle in 19.80.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/college\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More College News<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The USC men&#8217;s swimming and diving team won 15 of 16 events to defeat UNLV 200-61 on Friday, Feb. 6, in the regular-season finale.
