For example, distance-freestyle legend Janet Evans owns three of the longest-standing world records in history, her former marks in the 400-meter freestyle, 800 freestyle and 1500 freestyle all enduring for at least 17 years.<\/p>\n<p>Following Swimming World&#8217;s look at the longest-standing world records in the history of men&#8217;s competition, we shift our focus to the longest-lasting global marks in women&#8217;s action.
