The facility will be hosting its second USMS national championship, joining the 2022 USMS Summer National Championship. Competitors at that meet broke nearly five dozen AQUA Masters world records and USMS records. More than 1,100 swimmers are expected to compete in 2027.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to bring Summer Nationals back to Richmond and partner again with a community that has demonstrated such a deep commitment to aquatics, Masters swimming, and exceptional events,\u201d USMS CEO <strong>Dawson Hughes<\/strong> said. \u201cThe SwimRVA team and the Richmond region offer the facilities, experience, and hospitality our members expect at a national championship and a destination that makes the entire trip memorable for swimmers and their families.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The $14 million SwimRVA facility was built in 2012 and features a large electronic videoboard, spacious locker rooms, and advanced filtration and water-quality systems.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The 50-meter competition pool was used for the 2008 U.S. Olympic trials in Omaha, Nebraska. Nine world records and 21 American records were broken at that meet.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThis is a huge win not only for Richmond but for the Commonwealth of Virginia,\u201d says <strong>Adam Kennedy<\/strong>, executive director of SwimRVA. \u201cWelcoming a U.S. Masters Swimming national championship back showcases our beautiful region as a premier destination for aquatic sports and brings meaningful economic and community impact while directly supporting SwimRVA\u2019s mission to make swimming accessible to everyone in our region.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The 2027 USMS Summer National Championship will help raise funds to teach children and adults in the Richmond region how to swim.
