Pitt won 30 of 32 events at Trees Pool, setting four facility records plus the school mark by Shannon.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/pittsburghpanthers.com\/documents\/2026\/1\/24\/pitt_vs_villanova_full_results.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/acc-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ACC Swimming News<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Shannon owned the school record at 4:08.47 from ACCs in the spring of 2025, but she obliterated that time Friday by going 4:06.18. Shannon also won the 1,000 free with a time of 9:46.05.<\/p>\n<p>The meet started with matching meet records in the 400 medley relays. The women&#8217;s quartet of <strong>Claire Jansen, Angelina Messina, Sydney Gring<\/strong> and <strong>Avery Kudlac<\/strong> took down the record with a time of 3:33.14. The men\u2019s team (<strong>Mason Leach, Eli Hobson, Alan Vergine, Julian Koch<\/strong>) also took the mark in 3:07.85. The women\u2019s 200 free relay of Kudlac, Gring, <strong>Mary Clarke<\/strong> and Jansen went 1:29.04 to set a pool mark in the 200 free relay.<\/p>\n<p>Gring and Kudlac went 1-2 in both the 200 free and 100 free, Gring winning in 1:46.61 and 43.59, respectively. Jansen did the backstroke double, winning the 100 in 53.22 and the 200 in 1:53.81 with Shannon second. \u00a0Messina won the 100 breast, <strong>Allie Witdoeckt<\/strong> claimed the 100 fly and <strong>Avery Hafele\u2019s<\/strong> 23.03 outsprinting teammate <strong>Sof Tijunelis<\/strong> by .11 seconds for the 50 free crown.<\/p>\n<p>Pitt also swept diving, <strong>Mariana Osorio Mendoza<\/strong> scoring nearly identical 297-point scores on both boards.<\/p>\n<p>Koch swam a pool record of 45.58 seconds in the 100 fly to lead the men\u2019s team. Koch also won the 200 free in 1:35.83.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cy Zhang<\/strong> won the 500 free and 1,000 free. Vergine was second to Koch in the 100 fly and second to <strong>Alex Bauer<\/strong> in the 400 IM around winning the 200 fly. <strong>Joseph Gardner<\/strong> won the 100 breast, and runner-up <strong>Gray Attmore<\/strong> won the 200. The same held true in backstroke with 200 back winner <strong>Jacobo Nuca<\/strong> first finishing runner-up to Leach in the 100. <strong>Donat Fabian\u2019s<\/strong> 20.06 edged Hobson in the 50, <strong>Merlin Belmon<\/strong> won the 100 free in 43.59.<\/p>\n<p>Villanova\u2019s wins came via <strong>Meghan Tiernan,<\/strong> who went 1:58.48 to edge <strong>Olivia Yoo<\/strong> by .08 seconds in the women\u2019s 200 fly, and <strong>Nate Warson<\/strong> 338.40 to win men\u2019s 1-meter diving.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kimmy Shannon Blasts 400 IM Record
