Superfish Lani Pallister Wins Record-Breaking Seventh Lorne Pier To Pub<\/strong><\/p>\n

Australian superfish Lani Pallister<\/strong> has again proved unstoppable, claiming a record seventh Lorne Pier to Pub 1.2k ocean swim classic on Victoria\u2019s surf coast.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old Queenslander \u2013 just as much at home in the surf as she is in the pool, clocked a time of 12 minutes 50 seconds to win the open women\u2019s category, becoming the most successful swimmer in the swim\u2019s 46-year history.<\/p>\n

The Paris Olympic gold medallist surpassing Sam Shepherd\u2019s<\/strong> previous record of six victories and saying during the presentations she would love to go for 10 victories.<\/p>\n

The men\u2019s open division saw Pallister\u2019s Olympic teammates Sam Short, Nick Sloman<\/strong> and Will Petric<\/strong> dominate the podium.<\/p>\n

Short winning in an impressive time of 11:52.<\/p>\n

Organisers sent the 5000 strong field into the water for an earlier start with smoke haze covering the coast as a result of bushfires which have ravaged the Victorian countryside and the Mount Otway National Park over the past week.<\/p>\n

Pallister telling the Geelong Advertiser<\/em> it was the hardest Pier To Pub she had ever done.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever swum straight into wind,\u201d said Pallister<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m an asthmatic so the smoke was not great for me considering I forgot my asthma puffer (laughs).<\/p>\n

\u201cA pretty challenging day in the office but I\u2019m always so grateful to come back (and while) having (won) seven is nice but I\u2019d like to get to 10 eventually.\u201d<\/p>\n
