AUBURN University, double-defending women’s and defending men’s NCAA champions, continue to maintain an iron lock on the dual meet standings. The latest rankings, released on Wednesday, kept the Tigers unanimously in the top spot, where they have resided since the first poll this season was released.

There were only a few changes in the rankings since the previous poll on November 12, the most significant of which was USC’s precipitous drop from fifth to tenth in the men’s rankings and from fifth to seventh in the women’s.

In the men’s poll, Northwestern and Arizona State showed the biggest improvement, with the Wildcats leap-frogging from 20th to 16th, and the Sun Devils jumping from 16 to the number 13 spot. Iowa, previously unranked, moved into the 23rd position.

Michigan, which moved up from eighth to sixth, and Arizona, which improved from 10th to eighth, also showed impressive strength.

Moving in the opposite direction was Washington, which fell to 19th after vaulting to the #14 spot a fortnight ago.

The most significant change in the women’s rankings took place just below the top level, as Georgia took over the runner-up spot, dropping Florida to #3. The SEC now owns the top three places while Pac-10 teams are ranked fourth (Stanford), sixth (Arizona), seventh (USC), eighth (Cal) and tenth (UCLA).

Two teams improved two places: Texas A&M, which went from a tie for 17th to 15th and Missouri, which improved from 22nd to 20th. Indiana, tied for 13th two weeks ago, is now 12th.

Heading south were Washington (21st to a tie for 24th), ASU (13th to 16th) and Notre Dame (19th to 21st).

The next poll will take place in two weeks on Dec. 9, 2003 and will continue throughout the season. The final poll of the season will take place on March 8, 2003 when a national dual meet champion will be crowned by the CSCAA.

Division I Swimming and Diving:
Dual Meet Rankings for Nov. 26, 2003

MEN’S DIV.
