European short-course champion John Shortt<\/strong> continued his record-breaking exploits of recent weeks at the Irish Winter Championships<\/strong> in Dublin.<\/p>\n
Shortt set his 17^{th<\/sup> and 18^{th<\/sup> Irish record of the past month in the 200IM in 1:55.80, as he sliced almost a second off the 1:56.74 mark that had stood to Brendan Hyland<\/strong> for exactly six years since 12 December 2019. He also sliced 1.59secs from his Irish junior record set at last month\u2019s Munster Championships (SC).<\/p>\n}}
Cormac Rynn<\/strong> was second in 2:00.49 and Charlie Cassidy<\/strong> third in 2:00.85.<\/p>\n
The 18-year-old won the 200 back at the short-course Europeans that concluded in Lublin, Poland, last week. Shortt posted 1:47.89 for a world junior record while also setting an Irish mark en-route to seventh in the 100 in 50.10 and finished 25^{th<\/sup> in the 50.<\/p>\n}
Fellow continental champion Ellen Walshe<\/strong> returned to the top of the podium at the Sport Ireland National Aquatic Centre.<\/p>\n
Walshe won 200 fly gold and 200IM silver in Lublin and on Friday she got her hand to the wall first to take the national 100 free title in 53.18, 0.15 off the Irish record.\u00a0Grace Davison<\/strong> was second in 53.61 and Danielle Farrell<\/strong> third in 54.31.<\/p>\n
Cormac Rynn<\/strong> was back in the water for the 100 free where he upgraded his 200IM silver to gold in 49.12.<\/p>\n
