The US Open continued from Texas with the third day of competition.<\/p>\n

The prelims include the men’s and women’s 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle.<\/p>\n

Here is a look at what happened during prelims:<\/p>\n

Results<\/a><\/p>\n

US Open Women’s 100 Butterfly<\/h3>\n

Gretchen Walsh<\/strong> sprinted to the top seed in the packed 100 butterfly to start the morning. The world record holder got to the wall in 56.64.<\/p>\n

Fellow U.S. Olympians Regan Smith<\/strong> (57.19) and Alex Shackell<\/strong> (57.81) followed, ahead of Canadian Olympic champion Summer McIntosh<\/strong> (57.92).<\/p>\n

The finals should be fast and intriguing.<\/p>\n

The fifth seed went to Marie Wattel<\/strong> in 58.70, followed by Isabella Boyd<\/strong> (58.95), Leah Shackley<\/strong> (59.25) and Campbell Stoll (<\/strong>59.43).<\/p>\n

US Open Men’s 100 Butterfly<\/h3>\n

Shaine Casas<\/strong> raced to the 100 butterfly top seed in a meet record 50.78.<\/p>\n

Casas, who won the 50 back on Day 2, topped the previous championship record of 51.03 that he set in 2023.<\/p>\n

Canadian Olympian Ilya Kharun<\/strong> took the second seed in 50.91, ahead of Cal champion Dare Rose<\/strong> (51.60).<\/p>\n

Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> (51.77) and Leon Marchand<\/strong> (51.81) added an extra layer of star power to the event and took the fourth and fifth seeds, respectively.<\/p>\n

The sixth seed went to Bjoern Kammann<\/strong> (51.94), while Hubert Kos<\/strong> and Aiden Hayes<\/strong> tied for the seventh seed at 52.30.<\/p>\n

US Open Women’s 400 IM<\/h3>\n

Canadian Olympian Mary-Sophie Harvey<\/strong> has had a strong year and continues to prove she belongs in the elite level.<\/p>\n

She took the top seed in the 400 IM, getting ot he wall in 4:40.98, nearly three seconds ahead of the field.<\/p>\n

U.S. Olympian Emma Weyant<\/strong> took the second seed in 4:43.45, followed by Tara Kinder<\/strong> (4:44.70), Sadie Buckley<\/strong> (4:47.89), Rosie Murphy<\/strong> (4:49.86), Ieva Maluka<\/strong> (4:51.31), Emma Finlin<\/strong> (4:52.38) and Emma Gigna<\/strong> (4:53.92).<\/p>\n

US Open Men’s 400 IM<\/h3>\n

Carson Foster<\/strong> cruised to the top seed in the men’s event, finishing three seconds ahead of the field with a swim of 4:15.19.<\/p>\n

Ohio State’s Tristan Jankovics<\/strong> took the second seed ahead of Texas’ Cooper Lucas<\/strong> (4:18.74) and Luka Mijatovic<\/strong> (4:19.45).<\/p>\n

Tommy Bried<\/strong> took the fifth seed in 4:20.29, followed by Baylor Nelson<\/strong> (4:20.37), Ivan Puskovitch<\/strong> (4:20.66) and Gregg Enoch<\/strong> (4:21.77).<\/p>\n

Bobby Finke<\/strong> took the ninth seed in 4:22.01.<\/p>\n

US Open Women’s 100 Breaststroke<\/h3>\n

Olympic medalist Kate Douglass<\/strong> took the top seed in the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n

After winning the 200 IM and 50 free on Day 2, Douglass got to the wall in 1:06.57 in the 100 breaststroke to keep her stellar meet going.<\/p>\n

Ireland Olympian Mona McSharry<\/strong> took the second seed in 1:07.07, ahead of Canada’s Alexanne<\/strong> LePage<\/strong> (1:07.44).<\/p>\n

Olympic medalist Alex Walsh<\/strong> took the sixth seed in 1:08.66, behind Aliz Kalmar<\/strong> (1:08.04) and Mackenzie Lung<\/strong> (1:08.48).<\/p>\n

Piper Enge<\/strong> of Texas was the seventh seed (1:09.09) ahead of Skyler Smith<\/strong> (1:09.13).<\/p>\n

US Open Men’s 100 Breaststroke<\/h3>\n

Indiana’s Alexi Avakov<\/strong> took the top seed in the 100 breaststroke at 59.99, the only one in the field to break a minute during prelims.<\/p>\n

Texas’ Campbell McKean<\/strong> (1:00.19) and Nate Germonprez<\/strong> (1:00.34) were just behind.<\/p>\n

Jack Kelly<\/strong> took the fourth spot in 1:00.41, followed by Luke Barr<\/strong> (1:00.54), Josh Matheny<\/strong> (1:00.57), Denis Petrashov<\/strong> (1:00.70) and Noah Cakir<\/strong> (1:00.85).<\/p>\n

Leon Marchand<\/strong> took the ninth seed in 1:00.98, just after swimming the 100 butterfly.<\/p>\n

US Open Women’s 100 Backstroke<\/h3>\n

The days of the loaded 100 backstroke continued with a star-studded field heading into tonight’s final.<\/p>\n

Olympic medalists Regan Smith<\/strong> (58.73), Katharine Berkoff<\/strong> (59.40) and Phoebe Bacon<\/strong> (59.78) took the top three seeds.<\/p>\n

The fourth wen to Canadian Olympian Ingrid Wilm<\/strong> (1:00.25), head of NC State’s Leah Shackley<\/strong> (1:00.27) and Erika Pelaez<\/strong> (1:00.34).<\/p>\n

Canadian Olympians Summer McIntosh<\/strong> (1:00.80) and Mary-Sophie Harvey<\/strong> (1:00.92) rounded out the finalists after putting together impressive doubles during prelims.<\/p>\n

US Open Men’s 100 Backstroke<\/h3>\n

Hungarian Olympic champion Hubert Kos<\/strong> took the top seed in the 100 back in 53.30.<\/p>\n

The second seed was a tie between Ivan Tarasov<\/strong> and Blake Tierney<\/strong>, each finishing in 53.70.<\/p>\n

Australian Henry Allan<\/strong> took the fourth spot in 53.77, followed by Daniel Diehl<\/strong> (54.19), Hudson<\/strong> Williams<\/strong> (54.63), Tommy Haga<\/strong>r (54.65) and Joy Hayburn<\/strong> (54.90).<\/p>\n

US Open Women’s 200 Freestyle<\/h3>\n

U.S. Olympian Anna Peplowski<\/strong> from Indiana took the top seed in the 200 free, getting to the wall in 1:58.19.<\/p>\n

Olympic champion Simone Manuel<\/strong> took the second seed in 1:58.43, just ahead of Indiana’s Liberty Clark<\/strong> (1:58.81).<\/p>\n

Olympian Erin Gemmell<\/strong> took the fourth spot in 1:59.49, followed by Erin Little<\/strong> (1:59.70), Chloe<\/strong> Stepanek<\/strong> (1:59.72), Inez Miller<\/strong> (2:00.00) and Daria Golovaty<\/strong> (2:00.75).<\/p>\n

US Open Men’s 200 Freestyle<\/h3>\n

After winning the 50 free on Day 2, Chris Guiliano<\/strong> cruised to the top seed in the 200 free with a swim of 1:45.91 on Day 3.<\/p>\n

Fellow Olympians Luke Hobson<\/strong> (1:46.25), Aaron Shackell<\/strong> (1:46.61) and Kieran Smith<\/strong> (1:47.29) rounded out the top four seeds.<\/p>\n

Patrick Sammon<\/strong> took the fifth seed in 1:47.40, followed by Tomas Navikonis<\/strong> (1:47.41), Cal’s Gabriel Jett<\/strong> (1:47.60) and Kaique de Morais Alves<\/strong> (1:48.21).<\/p>\n
