World Champions Lukas M\u00e4rtens & Anna Elendt Among Germany Team For Short-Course Europeans<\/h4>\n

Lukas M\u00e4rtens, <\/b>Anna Elendt<\/b> and Florian Wellbrock<\/strong> are among a Germany squad of 31 that will travel to the short-course Europeans in Lublin, Poland, next week at the end of a year in which they each tasted success on the global stage.<\/p>\n

M\u00e4rtenshas had a 2025 that has encompassed world records and titles. He broke Paul Biedermann’s<\/strong> longstanding 400 free WR<\/a> in April, lowering the supersuited standard to 3:39.96 in Stockholm. He went on to add the 400 world title to his Olympic gold in Singapore while also claiming 800 bronze.<\/p>\n

Elendt came through on the second 50 to win the 100m breaststroke title in Singapore in a national record of 1:05.19. The 24-year-old already has a short-course medal under her belt with 100m bronze at the world event in Melbourne in 2022.<\/p>\n

Wellbrock swept the open water titles at worlds to come away with four golds in the 5 and 10k, 3km knockout sprints and team.\u00a0 He then headed the 1500 prelims before finishing outside the medals in fifth. Wellbrock holds the 1500 free s\/c world record of 14:06.88 set at the 2021 World Championships in Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n

Germany finished eighth in the medal table at the 2023 edition in Otopeni, Romania, with a gold and two silvers. Angelina K\u00f6hler<\/b> won 200 fly gold and 100 fly silver and she too will make the trip to Lublin for the meet which runs from 2-7 December.<\/p>\n

Ole Braunschweig<\/b> claimed the other German medal with silver in the 50 back and he too will travel.<\/p>\n

“We are competing in the European Short Course Championships with an exciting mix of talent and experience. We are very pleased that many young athletes have also earned their way into the national team with good performances. In Lublin, we want to build on the strong results we have shown recently,” said\u00a0Christian Hansmann<\/b>, DSV board member for competitive sports.<\/p>\n
