She was more than a second clear of runner-up <strong>Catie Choate<\/strong> of Florida, who went 51.68.<\/p>\n<p>The top six all qualified for NCAAs. LSU\u2019s <strong>Zoe Carlos-Broc<\/strong> was third in 51.90, exactly a half second up on <strong>Alice Velden<\/strong> of Florida State. The LSU duo of <strong>Sofia Sartori<\/strong> (52.42) and <strong>Michaela de Villiers<\/strong> (52.55) crowded under the standard of 52.65.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 100 backstroke<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Ruard van Renen<\/strong> made a run at his best time, of 43.85 from NCAAs last year. The South African was in the 45s at this invitational last year, but he\u2019s come leaps and bounds since then.<\/p>\n<p>A half-second behind van Renen\u2019s 43.92 was <strong>Max Wilson<\/strong> of Florida State, with a time of 44.43 that sets FSU&#8217;s fourth school record of the week. Georgia\u2019s <strong>Luca Urlando<\/strong> booked an NCAA swim in third place at 44.79. The entire A final was under the standard, including <strong>Jonny Marshall<\/strong> of Florida in 45.23.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the NCAA qualifiers was LSU\u2019s <strong>Stepan Goncharov<\/strong> (45.25), <strong>Tommy Hagar<\/strong> of Alabama (45.46), <strong>Aiden Norman<\/strong> of Florida (46.10) and Georgia\u2019s <strong>Sam Powe<\/strong> in 46.11.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 200 breaststroke<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Anita Bottazzo<\/strong> polished off another breaststroke win, the Florida swimmer going 2:06.97. She was nearly 1.4 seconds clear of the field, with <strong>Elizabeth Nawrocki<\/strong> of Georgia touching second in 2:08.44, two tenths up on <strong>Molly Mayne<\/strong> of the Gators. Bottazzo&#8217;s time is a personal-best and the second-best in program history.<\/p>\n<p>Seven from the A final made the NCAA cut, as well as B final winner <strong>Grace Rainey<\/strong> of Florida in 2:11.08. Nawrocki and Mayne were among four 2:08s, followed by LSU\u2019s <strong>Martina Bukvic<\/strong> in 2:08.65 and <strong>Grace Rabb<\/strong> of Florida in 2:08.89. (Bukvic&#8217;s time moves her into third in program history.) <strong>Julia Mansson<\/strong> of Florida State finished sixth in 2:10.50, outtouching Georgia\u2019s <strong>Charlotte Headland<\/strong> by one hundredth.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 200 breaststroke<\/h4>\n<p>The men\u2019s race was just as crowded but a little more chaotic. At the top, Florida State\u2019s <strong>Tommaso Baravelli<\/strong> held on to beat his fellow Sunshine Stater <strong>Aleksas Savickas<\/strong> to the win. Baravelli went 1:53.54, .32 up on Savickas.<\/p>\n<p>Third was Florida State\u2019s <strong>Lleyton Arnold<\/strong> in 1:54.11. The Georgia duo <strong>Cale Martter<\/strong> and 100 breast champ <strong>Elliot Woodburn<\/strong> slotted in with .03 of each other. <strong>Jordan Willis<\/strong> of Florida went 1:54.74 to get under the NCAA standard, as did teammate <strong>Nil Cadevall<\/strong> from the B final in 1:54.13.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 500 freestyle<\/h4>\n<p>NCAA leader <strong>Kennedi Dobson<\/strong> opted out of the 500. That left open the door for <strong>Julie Brousseau<\/strong> to win 4:35.14, big points for Florida. Though Georgia was the aggregate winner in the A final, taking four of the top six spots. That includes NCAA cuts for <strong>Marie Landreneau<\/strong> in second in 4:39.73 and <strong>Elizabeth Tilt<\/strong> in third in 4:42.40.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michaela Mattes<\/strong> of Florida clocked 4:42.66 to finish fourth. She was .02 ahead of Georgia\u2019s <strong>Shea Furse,<\/strong> both under the NCAA time. Sixth-place <strong>Clarke Neace<\/strong> finished .09 over it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Megan Barnes<\/strong> blasted the B final with a 4:41.50 to get the LSU senior to NCAAs.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 500 freestyle<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Ahmed Jaouadi<\/strong> stopped the clock in 4:10.72, a time for the Florida swimmer that is .03 under the nation-leading time that <strong>Rex Maurer<\/strong> brought into the week. It&#8217;s also the No. 6 time in Gators&#8217; history.<\/p>\n<p>The Tunisian leads four Florida NCAA qualifiers, with <strong>Gio Linscheer<\/strong> in fifth at 4:14.78, <strong>Charlie Hutchison<\/strong> sixth in 3:14.95 and <strong>Eric Brown<\/strong> beating the time in 4:17.41 via a victory in the B final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leonardo Alcantara<\/strong> of Alabama finished second in 4:11.28 with the second-fastest time in program history. It was a gap back to Georgia\u2019s <strong>Tomas Koski<\/strong> in third in 4:14.13. <strong>Sean Green<\/strong> of Georgia was fourth in 4:!4.75, among the seven NCAA qualifiers.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 50 freestyle<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Cadence Vincent<\/strong> was fast in prelims and faster by .01 in finals, going 21.82 to win the 50 free. She was just clear of <strong>Michaela de Villiers\u2019<\/strong> 21.99, the LSU swimmer notching an impressive double. Her teammate <strong>Avery Littlefield<\/strong> was third in 22.05.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth place was a time for Alabama\u2019s <strong>Charlotte Rosendale<\/strong> and <strong>Maryn McDade<\/strong> of Florida State, both in 22.23, which is under the NCAA standard.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 50 freestyle<\/h4>\n<p>Another day, another fast swim for <strong>Josh Liendo.<\/strong> The Florida senior went 18.40 to easily beat the field. LSU\u2019s <strong>Jere Hribar<\/strong> was second in 18.75. Liendo&#8217;s time is the NCAA leader this season. Hribar, a tenth off his personal best, is third in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Third went to <strong>Alex Painter<\/strong> of Florida in 19.35, with LSU\u2019s <strong>Stepan Goncharov<\/strong> and <strong>Sam Bork<\/strong> of FSU following at .01-second intervals. <strong>Tane Bidois<\/strong> of Georgia, in sixth, hit the NCAA standard bang-on at 19.43, while Florida State\u2019s <strong>Max Wilson<\/strong> beat the mark by going 19.40 in the B final.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 400 medley relay<\/h4>\n<p>Alabama\u2019s run of women\u2019s success continued with the 400 medley relay, doubling up on the 200 medley relay crown. The quartet of <strong>Emily Jones, Jada Scott, Gaby Van Brunt<\/strong> and <strong>Cadence Vincent<\/strong> went 3:27.40. They were nearly a second ahead of Florida, which went 3:28.23 with the team of <strong>Addison Reese, Anita Bottazzo, Catie Choate<\/strong> and <strong>Lainy Kruger.<\/strong> That is an NCAA automatic cut and the third-fastest relay in Florida history.<\/p>\n<p>LSU picked up a provisional time by going 3:31.88 (<strong>Zoe Carlos-Broc, Martina Bukvic, Sofia Sartori, Michaela de Villiers<\/strong>). Florida State was fourth in 3:32.65.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 400 medley relay<\/h4>\n<p>A DQ bit Florida\u2019s A squad, which entered with an NCAA provisional time this season and won NCAAs in an NCAA record time last year. That left open the pathway for Georgia to win in 3:00.84 with <strong>Ruard van Renen, Elliot Woodburn, Luca Urlando<\/strong> (43.52) and <strong>Tomas Koski.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Florida State swam an NCAA A standard in 3:02.52, with a 51.78 from <strong>Tommaso Baravelli<\/strong> in breaststroke and a 41.65 from <strong>Logan Robinson<\/strong> on the end for the second-fastest time in program history.
