﻿{"id":626690,"date":"2025-11-19T17:57:57","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T00:57:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=626690"},"modified":"2025-11-19T17:57:57","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T00:57:57","slug":"iowa-invitational-nebraska-holds-lead-over-washington-state-after-two-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/iowa-invitational-nebraska-holds-lead-over-washington-state-after-two-days\/","title":{"rendered":"Iowa Invitational: Nebraska Holds Lead Over Washington State After Two Days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Iowa Invitational kicked off this week with the first two days of action from Iowa City in the women&#8217;s invite.<\/p>\n<p>After two days, Nebraska leads with 454.5 points, followed by Washington State (407.5), Iowa (401), Kansas (325), Illinois (307), Miami (242), UConn (242), Iowa State (234) and Northern Iowa (160).<\/p>\n<p>The meet opened Tuesday with Washington State winning the 200 medley relay. <strong>Anna Rauchholz, Emily Lundgren, Addy Lewis<\/strong> and <strong>Darcy Revitt<\/strong> earned the win in 1:36.77, holding off Miami (1:39.03) and the rest of the field.<\/p>\n<p>Nebraska claimed the 800 free relay win as <strong>Gena Jorgenson, Beatrix Tanko, Riley Miklos<\/strong> and <strong>Giulia Marchi<\/strong> got to the wall in 7:04.78, nine seconds ahead of Washington State and the rest of the field.<\/p>\n<p>The individual events began on Day 2:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/college\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More College News<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>500 Freestyle<\/h3>\n<p>Nebraska&#8217;s <strong>Gena Jorgenson<\/strong> earned a win in the 500 free, dropping more than a second from prelims to get to the wall in 4:40.29.<\/p>\n<p>Washington State&#8217;s <strong>Lauren Wille<\/strong> took second in 4:45.64, followed by Kansas&#8217;<strong> Gabi Dyer<\/strong> (4:48.52), Nebraska&#8217;s <strong>Riley Miklos<\/strong> (4:50.87), Miami&#8217;s<strong> Sophie Lenze<\/strong> (4:51.68), Nebraska&#8217;s <strong>Giulia Marchi<\/strong> (4:52.16), Iowa&#8217;s <strong>Jenna Kerr<\/strong> (4:52.50) and UConn&#8217;s <strong>Norah Rome<\/strong> (4:52.96).<\/p>\n<h3>200 IM<\/h3>\n<p>Iowa&#8217;s <strong>Olivia Swalley<\/strong> claimed victory in the 200 IM. She dropped nearly two seconds from prelims to get to the wall in 1:58.09. Her time was nearly a half second ahead of Illinois&#8217; <strong>Sara Jass<\/strong>, who finished runner-up in 1:58.66.<\/p>\n<p>Washington State&#8217;s <strong>Emily Lundgren<\/strong> took third in 2:00.19, just ahead of Iowa State&#8217;s<strong> Emma Kuhn<\/strong> (2:00.44) and Illinois&#8217; <strong>Chloe Diner<\/strong> (2:00.71).<\/p>\n<p>Nebraska&#8217;s <strong>Marissa Laurin<\/strong> finished sixth in 2:01.43, followed by Washington State&#8217;s <strong>Ashlyn Hernandez<\/strong> (2:01.82) and Kansas&#8217; <strong>Hailey Farrell<\/strong> (2:03.36).<\/p>\n<h3>50 Freestyle<\/h3>\n<p>Washington State&#8217;s <strong>Darcy Revitt<\/strong> sprinted to victory in the 50 freestyle, getting to the wall in 21.84. Her time was the only under 22 seconds after dropping a tenth from prelims.<\/p>\n<p>Nebraska&#8217;s <strong>Beatrix Tanko<\/strong> finished second in 22.17, just ahead of Iowa&#8217;s <strong>Payton Flowers<\/strong> (22.38), Washington State&#8217;s <strong>Barbora Mileisyte<\/strong> (22.60) and UConn&#8217;s <strong>Jessica Sheng<\/strong> (22.69).<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the top eight were Miami&#8217;s<strong> Isabelle Videment<\/strong> (22.92), Miami&#8217;s <strong>Savannah Barr<\/strong> (22.93) and Washington State&#8217;s <strong>Addy Lewis<\/strong> (23.20).<\/p>\n<h3>1-Meter Diving<\/h3>\n<p>Kansas diver <strong>Shiyun Lai<\/strong> scored 318.85 points to win the 1-meter diving event, the final individual event of the night.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa&#8217;s <strong>Lainey Woodward<\/strong> finished second with a score of 314.65, followed by Nebraska&#8217;s <strong>Abigail Baxter<\/strong>, who took third with a 311.05 as only three reached 300 points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lize Van Leeuwen<\/strong> of Kansas finished fourth with a score of 290.55, followed by Iowa&#8217;s <strong>Geneva Pauly<\/strong> (285.05), Iowa State&#8217;s <strong>Katherine Mitchell<\/strong> (279.10), Iowa&#8217;s<strong> Zita Bernatsky<\/strong> (275.15) and Illinois&#8217; <strong>Matilda Garcia<\/strong> (264.30).<\/p>\n<h3>200 Free Relay<\/h3>\n<p>Washington State put together the fastest sprint relay with the quartet of <strong>Barbora Mileisyte, Issabelle Parrish, Emily Lundgren<\/strong> and <strong>Darcy Revitt g<\/strong>etting to the wall in 1:29.62.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa took second with<strong> Payton Flowers, Audrey Olen, Rachel Dildine<\/strong> and <strong>Ella Jean Kelly<\/strong> finishing in 1:30.21.<\/p>\n<p>Third place went to Miami&#8217;s <strong>Savannah Barr, Isabelle Videment, Abby Vonderahe<\/strong> and <strong>Ines Mahmoudi<\/strong> in 1:31.22.<\/p>\n<p>Nebraska (1:31.42), Northern Iowa (1:31.58), Kansas (1:31.80), WSU&#8217;s B relay (1:31.91) and Illinois (1:32.48) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Iowa Invitational kicked off this week with the first two days of action from Iowa City in the women&#8217;s invite.
