Angelina K\u00f6hler Finishes German s\/c Championships With Six Golds & A National Record<\/h4>\n

Angelina K\u00f6hler<\/strong> won two titles in the space of 15 minutes as she finished the German s\/c Championships with six golds among seven overall medals and a national record in the 50 fly.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old won the 100m butterfly in 56.45 before securing the 50 back in 27.14 to leave Wuppertal with six golds, one silver and a national record.<\/p>\n

K\u00f6hler completed the clean sweep of the fly events \u2013 along with a 50 fly German record of 25.31 \u2013 and also took the 50 and 200 free titles and 50 back.<\/p>\n

Her coach Lasse Frank<\/strong> described her programme as \u201ca successful dress rehearsal\u201d for the short-course Europeans which run from 2-7 December in Lublin, Poland.<\/p>\n

“Angelina will compete in all three butterfly distances in Poland, plus relays,\u201d he told dsv.de. \u201cThat’s why we definitely wanted to practice keeping our concentration high over several days. Angelina has succeeded excellently here.\u201d<\/p>\n

SG Neuk\u00f6lln Berlin teammate Ole Braunschweig <\/strong>donned K\u00f6hler’s cap for the 50 back where he came second in 23.74 behind defending champion\u00a0Alexander Bauch <\/strong>(23.60). Braunschweig has already booked his ticket to Lublin after competing at the Singapore worlds.<\/p>\n

Kenneth Bock<\/strong>\u00a0secured his ticket to the European Championships in the very last race of the meet when he won the 200m breaststroke in 2:06.33, destroying his 2:09 PB in the process.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old is part of\u00a0J\u00f6rg Hoffmann’s<\/strong>\u00a0training group in Potsdam, which also includes European champion\u00a0Melvin Imoudu<\/strong>\u00a0and junior world record holder\u00a0Malte Gr\u00e4fe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Lena Ludwig<\/strong>\u00a0had already been selected for Lublin but she took more than a second off her PB for victory in the women\u2019s 200 breast in 2:25.37.<\/p>\n

The Germany team for Poland will be announced over the coming days with a maximum squad number of 30. Swimmers had the chance to qualify in two categories, open and for athletes under the age of 23.<\/p>\n

Several swimmers, including the likes of\u00a0Anna Elendt\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Lukas M\u00e4rtens<\/span><\/b>,\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>have already booked their slots on the Germany team thanks to their performances at the World Championships in Singapore. Elendt won the 100m breaststroke title with M\u00e4rtens taking the 400 free gold and 800 bronze.<\/span><\/p>\n
