Racing the 200-meter freestyle, the four-time Olympic medalist turned in a time of 1:54.85 to claim victory over <strong>Li Bingjie<\/strong>, who finished in second place with a mark of 1:55.67. Placing third was <strong>Liu Yaxin<\/strong> in 1:56.01.<\/p>\n<p>Although she was unable to participate in the sport&#8217;s most recent global showcase, Haughey has used the Chinese National Games as a launching point toward the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. By dipping under 1:55, she became the fifth athlete this year to crack the barrier. For her career, Haughey owns a two silver medals and a pair of bronze medals from her Olympic appearances.<\/p>\n<p>Just before Haughey earned her win in the 200 freestyle, 18-year-old <strong>Zhang Zhanshuo<\/strong> continued his superb meet. Following up on victories in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle, Zhang took top honors in the 800 freestyle, where he was timed in 7:46.69. That effort handed him a dominant margin over runnerup <strong>Fei Liwei<\/strong>, who touched the wall in 7:51.43.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 50 breaststroke witnessed an upset as <strong>Zheng Yinghao<\/strong> was the winner in 26.97, edging the 27.04 of <strong>Yan Zibei<\/strong>. <strong>Qin<\/strong> <strong>Haiyang<\/strong> was originally third in the event, but was disqualified. Prior to the DQ, Qin posted a time of 27.19, well off the 26.75 he managed during the semifinals. Meanwhile, in the final of the men&#8217;s 200 butterfly, <strong>Xu Fang<\/strong> registered a convincing triumph as his mark of 1:54.74 was more than a second clear of the 1:56.06 of <strong>Wang Xizhe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In semifinal competition, 13-year-old <strong>Yu Zidi<\/strong> cruised to a 2:07.95 performance in the 200 butterfly, good for the top seed. She was followed by veteran <strong>Zhang Yufei<\/strong> in 2:08.34. Yu set an Asian record of 2:07.41 in the 200 individual medley earlier in the meet. In the men&#8217;s 100 freestyle, world-record holder and Olympic champion <strong>Pan Zhanle<\/strong> clocked the fastest time into the final, going 48.13.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wang Shun<\/strong>, the 2020 Olympic champ in the 200 individual medley, was fastest in the semifinals of his prime event, going 2:00.10, and <strong>Wan Letian<\/strong> was tops in the semifinals of the women&#8217;s 50
