It gives athletes aspiring to the games concrete targets to aim at, and can help athletes \u2013 swimmers especially \u2013 dial in their objectives.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond swimming\u2019s move to the second week of the slate and a nine-day schedule, here\u2019s what the Los Angeles 2028 schedule has in store for the other aquatics sports.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Read: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/la2028-reveals-2028-olympic-schedule-with-swimming-from-july-22-30\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LA2028 Reveals 2028 Olympic Schedule, with Swimming from July 22-30<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The full schedule of <a href=\"https:\/\/la28.org\/content\/dam\/latwentyeight\/competition-schedule-imagery\/uploaded-nov-12-2025\/LA28OlympicGamesCompetitionScheduleByEventV2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">all events is available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Triathlon<\/h4>\n<p>Women\u2019s triathlon gets pride of place as the first medal event of the 2028 Olympics. While several sports will play earlier preliminary matches, triathlon is the first medal event. The women\u2019s individual race will be Saturday, July 15 at 7:30 a.m. at Venice Beach.<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s race will follow on Sunday, July 16, Day 2 of the Olympics. The mixed relay is July 20 (Day 6).<\/p>\n<h4>Open Water Swimming<\/h4>\n<p>The women\u2019s 10-kilometer swim will take place at Belmont Shore on Day 3, Monday, July 17. The men\u2019s marathon swim is a day later.<\/p>\n<p>Both have the unusual start time of 1:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<h4>Water Polo<\/h4>\n<p>Water polo is one of the team sports that will begin two days before the Olympics properly open. The competition held at Long Beach Aquatics Center will feature three sessions of two prelims matches each per day. Water polo won\u2019t play on Day 0, the Friday, July 14 day that hosts the Opening Ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s matches come first, with quarterfinals on July 19 and the medal finals Saturday, July 22 (Day 8). The women\u2019s finals are Sunday, July 23 (Day 9). The gold-medal matches are at 3 p.m. PT.<\/p>\n<p>Both the men and women play semifinals on the same day, Day 7 of the Olympics. The men thus get an extra day off before semis. The women play quarters and semis on back-to-back days before a day off ahead of the medal matches.<\/p>\n<p>Dates for each tournament:<\/p>\n<h5>Men\u2019s<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Prelims: July 12, July 15, July 17<\/li>\n<li>Quarterfinals: July 19<\/li>\n<li>Semifinals: July 21<\/li>\n<li>Final: July 22<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Women\u2019s<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Prelims: July 13, July 16, July 18<\/li>\n<li>Quarterfinals: July 20<\/li>\n<li>Semifinals: July 21<\/li>\n<li>Final: July 23<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Diving<\/h4>\n<p>Diving will be held at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center in Pasadena from July 16-28 with a two-day hiatus in the middle (so 11 days of competition).
