Duke Women, Northwestern Men Take Wins in Two-Day Meet<\/strong><\/p>\n

Northwestern hosted Duke for a two-day meet Friday and Saturday, and the result was a split. The Blue Devil women came out on top 192-142 while the Wildcat men dominated by a 216-118 margin.<\/p>\n

Duke’s top team finished almost three seconds ahead in the 400 freestyle relay.\u00a0Tatum Wall<\/strong> led off in 47.70, and she was followed by\u00a0Ali Pfaff<\/strong>,\u00a0Emily Gantriis<\/strong> and\u00a0Heather White\u00a0<\/strong>on the way to a time of 3:13.22. Pfaff won the 100 backstroke in 51.53, and\u00a0Kaelyn Gridley<\/strong> dominated the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.21.<\/p>\n

Martina Peroni<\/strong> beat the field by two seconds in the 200 butterfly (1:57.28), and Wall blasted a time of 21.93 to take the 50 free win. In diving, Duke’s Keira Lu<\/strong> won 3-meter (330.00), and the team of Pfaff, Gridley, White and Wall posted a time of 1:36.73 to win the 200 medley relay. Wall finished off her brilliant day with a 21.43 anchor split.<\/p>\n

On day two, the team of\u00a0Clare Logan<\/strong>, Gridley, White and Wall captured the 400 medley relay in 3:32.31. Lu again won on the boards, this time in 1-meter (303.75), and Pfaff won the 200 back in 1:53.59. Gridley’s second breaststroke win came over 200 yards (2:09.93), and Wall swam 48.09 to comfortably win the 100 free. White grabbed first in the 100 fly (53.73) before anchoring a team also including Wall, Pfaff and Gantriis in a come-from-behind win over Northwestern in the 200 free relay. The Blue Devils clocked 1:29.28 to the Wildcats’ 1:29.36.<\/p>\n

For Northwestern,\u00a0Zoe Nordmann<\/strong> topped the 1000 free (9:44.60) and 500 free (4:45.51), and Sydney Smith<\/strong> was first in the 200 free (1:46.45) and 200 IM (2:01.13).<\/p>\n
