Florine Gaspard & Noah Verreth Continue Record-Breaking Form; Corbeau Maintains 50m Speed<\/h4>\n

Florine Gaspard<\/strong> and Noah Verreth<\/strong> were breaking records once more on day two of the Belgian Championships in Ghent.<\/p>\n

Gaspard took down the national 100m breaststroke record in 1:04.30, taking 0.39 off the standard held by Fanny Lecluyse<\/strong> since November 2015. Both Lecluyse’s 100 and 200 marks have been consigned to history in the space of 24 hours with Roos Vanotterdijk<\/strong> having lowered the longer record to 2:18.07.<\/p>\n

It was Gaspard’s second national standard in as many days after she lowered her 50 free mark to 23.80 on Friday.<\/p>\n

Verreth began the meet owning the 50 back standard at 23.71 from the Dutch nationals last month. He lowered that to 23.66 on the medley relay leadoff on Friday before going 23.47 in prelims and then 23.42 en-route to the individual title.<\/p>\n

Vanotterdijk rattled the Belgian 200 free record in 1:54.96 ahead of Sarah Dumont<\/strong> (1:56.95) whose national mark of 1:54.82 remains intact.<\/p>\n

Fresh from his 55.59 blast in the 100m breaststroke, Caspar Corbeau posted 25.74 in the 50m, the second-fastest of his career behind his Dutch record of 25.52 at the World Cup last month. It’s the third swiftest in the world this year behind his own rankings-topper and Ilya Shymanovich’s<\/strong> 25.63.<\/p>\n
