{"id":625923,"date":"2025-11-07T20:52:49","date_gmt":"2025-11-08T03:52:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=625923"},"modified":"2025-11-08T16:10:43","modified_gmt":"2025-11-08T23:10:43","slug":"arkansas-women-swim-past-smu-to-start-busy-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/arkansas-women-swim-past-smu-to-start-busy-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"Arkansas Women Swim Past SMU to Start Busy Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Arkansas swim and dive team won its meet against SMU on Friday and toppled the Mustangs 192.5-85.5.<\/p>\n<p>The Razorbacks are now 5-8 all-time against the Mustangs and improved to 5-1 on the season.<\/p>\n<p>The Hogs had no shortage of success in their dominant outing and placed first in 14 out of 16 events, including first in both the 1- and 3-meter diving and team relays. Junio<strong>r Harriet Rogers<\/strong> had another fantastic day and took first in three events including the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 butterfly.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Sydney Craft brought in first in both the 1,000 and 500 freestyle. Other first place finishes include freshman<strong> Viola Petrini (<\/strong>200 freestyle), freshman <strong>Ellen Garritson<\/strong> (200 breaststroke), sophomore <strong>Holly Robinson<\/strong> (200 individual medley), junior<strong> Lindy Hunter<\/strong> (100 breaststroke), and junior <strong>Tammy Greenwood<\/strong> (200 backstroke).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am extremely happy and proud of our team,\u201d Arkansas coach <strong>Neil Harper<\/strong> said. \u201cEvery single swimmer and diver performed really well today against a good SMU team. A lot of the skills and techniques we are learning throughout the week are showing up in their performances today. We have a quick turnaround and need to be focused tomorrow to be able to perform at a high level two days in a row.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the springboards, it was sophomore <strong>Majo Sanchez<\/strong> cleaning up both events and building on her stellar season. Sanchez posted scores of 377.40 in the 1-meter and 324.75 in the 3-meter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ladies dove fantastic today. I am so proud of them all, they\u2019re all working on specific details of their dives and working on new dives and it\u2019s noticeable,\u201d head diving coach <strong>Abel Sanchez<\/strong> said. \u201cOnce again, Majo has stepped it up and won both the 3-meter with a score of 377.40, and 1-meter with a score of 324.75.
