The club and city of Mission Viejo signed a multi-year agreement with the Dutch Olympic and Paralympic teams. It also will host the dive teams of Australia, France, Canada, Germany and a delegation from USA Diving at the Marguerite Aquatics Complex.<\/p>\n

Several of those teams will conduct training camps in California in 2026 and 2027 as preparation for their staging for the 2028 Olympics.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so excited to essentially be a significant training hub in the world,\u201d Mission Viejo Mayor Robert Ruesch<\/strong> said in a press release. \u201cWe cannot wait to have the German, Canadian, Dutch, Aussie, French and American athletes call Mission Viejo their home away from home in 2028.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mission Viejo was an active participant in the 1984 Olympics, hosting the men\u2019 and women\u2019s cycling road races. The 2028 event won\u2019t venture that far down Interstate 5, but the city\u2019s aquatics facilities will play a role in the preparation.<\/p>\n

It furthers Mission Viejo\u2019s goal to be \u201ca sports mecca and hub for sports and events tourism\u201d that has been at the heart of Nadadores since the club was founded in 1968<\/a>. Its swim club, one of the most successful in the United States, has had a representative at each Olympics since 1976.<\/p>\n

Mission Viejo provides the perfect setting to prepare our team for success at Los Angeles 2028.\u201d<\/p>\n
