Olympic champion Lilly King<\/strong> tied the knot with James Wells<\/strong> this weekend.<\/p>\n

The ceremony took place in Maine with several teammates and figures in the swimming world in attendance.<\/p>\n

Lilly King and Wells were engaged during the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials, with Wells surprising King<\/a> with a proposal after she made the Olympic team for the third time.<\/p>\n

King, an Evansville native and Indiana University graduate is known for her global dominance in the 100 breaststroke. She has won two Olympic gold medals, two silvers and one bronze.<\/p>\n

Lilly King swam for Indiana University and has continued her swimming career under the direction of head coach, Ray Looze,<\/strong> for the better part of 10 years. King was a Big Ten champion as well as a NCAA champion.<\/p>\n

Wells, originally from Maine, was also a swimmer at Indiana, specializing in backstroke, butterfly and freestyle. He was an All-American, Big Ten Champion and NCAA qualifier. He also represented the USA in the 2013 World University Games and had a pro career at Badger Swim Club in New York, swimming at Olympic Trials in 2012, 2016 and 2021.<\/p>\n
