The women&#8217;s teams were evenly matched throughout the day, with SMU taking advantage of an early relay DQ for A&amp;M to build a 83-81 lead entering Saturday&#8217;s action. The A&amp;M men, meanwhile, are up 97-67.<\/p>\n<p>The SMU team of\u00a0<strong>Jimena Leal<\/strong>, <strong>Izzy Krantzcke<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Anne Marie Vlaic<\/strong> and <strong>Maddy Parker<\/strong> finished second in the 400 medley relay, but the disqualification of the Texas A&amp;M &#8220;A&#8221; team for a false start gave the Mustangs the win in 3:36.94. Krantzcke finished more than a second clear of the field in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.22), and Vlaic came from behind to beat A&amp;M&#8217;s <strong>Katie Walker<\/strong> in the 200 butterfly, 1:58.78 to 1:58.98.<\/p>\n<p>Parker was first in the 100 freestyle (48.87), and she led off a 200 free relay team also including <strong>Summer Osborne<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Chloe Corbin<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Madeline Herbert<\/strong> that took the win in 1:30.18, a quarter-second ahead of Texas A&amp;M, to secure SMU&#8217;s narrow advantage heading into day two.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/college\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More college swimming news<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Rachel Love<\/strong> opened the scoring for the Aggie women with a top time of 10:04.82 in the 1000 free, followed by <strong>Kaitlyn Owens<\/strong> taking first in the 100 backstroke in 53.27.\u00a0<strong>Giulia Goerigk<\/strong> finished well in the 200 IM to top teammate\u00a0<strong>Hannah O&#8217;Leary<\/strong>, 2:01.91 to 2:01.95.\u00a0<strong>Gabrielle Filzen<\/strong> won 3-meter diving (283.50).<\/p>\n<p>On the men&#8217;s side, Texas A&amp;M&#8217;s <strong>Bucky Gettys<\/strong> began building the lead for his team with a win in the 1000 free, clocking 9:01.61 to hold off teammate\u00a0<strong>Batuhab Filiz<\/strong> while\u00a0<strong>Munzy Kabbara<\/strong> completed the Aggie sweep.\u00a0<strong>Roberto Bonilla Flores<\/strong> came through in the 100 breast (53.73), and the 200 fly went to\u00a0<strong>Alejandro Michelena<\/strong> (1:45.71).\u00a0<strong>Ben Sytsma<\/strong> topped the field in the 100 free (43.87).<\/p>\n<p>Closing out individual racing was another 1-2-3 sweep for the visiting team. Kabbara won the 200 IM in 1:45.69, with <strong>Logan Brown<\/strong> and Bonilla Flores second and third, respectively. And in what was their only relay win of the day, the team of\u00a0<strong>Ben Scholl<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jack Madoch<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Chase Swearingen <\/strong>and Sytsma posted a time of 1:18.48 to win the 200 free relay.<\/p>\n<p>The SMU men pulled off an impressive win in the opening event of competition as <strong>Jack Berube<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kristaps Mikelsons<\/strong>, <strong>Sage Sungail<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Benjamin Chateigner<\/strong> beat A&amp;M by 0.12 in the 400 medley relay, 3:10.81 to 3:10.93. Berube topped the 100 back in 47.32, leading 1-2-3 sweep for his team, and\u00a0<strong>Luke Sitz<\/strong> won 3-meter diving (375.23).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sidearmstats.com\/smu\/swim\/\"
