World Cup Westmont \u2014 Day One Finals: Australia Picks Up Three Victories to Begin Meet<\/strong><\/p>\n

Swimmers from Down Under put up big performances to open the middle stop of the World Cup circuit in Westmont, Ill., with\u00a0Lani Pallister<\/strong> and\u00a0Sam Short<\/strong> opening the session with wins in their respective 400 freestyle finals before\u00a0Kaylee McKeown<\/strong> came through for her second consecutive victory in the 50 backstroke. Pallister opened the session in sensational form as she lowered her own Australian and World Cup records in the 400 free.<\/p>\n

Later in the session,\u00a0Hubert Kos<\/strong> would continue his dominance of the men’s 200 backstroke while\u00a0Regan Smith<\/strong> clipped her own American and World Cup records in the women’s 200 butterfly<\/a>. Further winners in the session included No\u00e8 Ponti<\/strong>,\u00a0Kate Douglass<\/strong>, Ilya Shymanovich<\/strong>,\u00a0Kasia Wasick<\/strong> and Ilya Kharun <\/strong>before Americans Gretchen Walsh<\/strong> and\u00a0Shaine Casas<\/strong> blasted sizzling performances in the 100 IM to wrap up the session.<\/p>\n
