Kos and Walsh each earned $12,000 for their efforts during the opening leg of the tour and will look to continue their momentum as the World Cup moves on to Westmont (Ill.), with action scheduled for Friday through Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>In sweeping the backstroke events, Kos totaled 58.4 points to secure a lead over the Netherlands&#8217; <strong>Caspar Corbeau<\/strong>, who scored 55.8 points while winning the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke, along with placing second in the 50 breaststroke. In third sits American <strong>Carson Foster<\/strong> (55.4 points), who left Carmel with wins in the 400 freestyle and 400 individual medley. Points are accumulated based on event finishes and times produced.<\/p>\n<p>On the women&#8217;s side, Walsh tallied 59.1 points for her wins in the 50 butterfly, 100 butterfly and 100 individual medley. In the 50 fly, Walsh <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/flash-gretchen-walsh-destroys-world-record-in-50-butterfly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broke her own world record<\/a>, clocking 23.72. She is followed in the World Cup standings by training partner Kate Douglass, who picked up 58.9 points while winning the 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke. Siting third is Australian Kaylee McKeown, who won the 50 backstroke and 200 backstroke, and was second in the 100 backstroke.
