The Scarlet Knights excelled in a strong opening meet. The Scarlet Knights won 221.50-87.50 over St. Bonaventure and 218-81 over Fordham.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Scarlet Knights won 11 events and two relays<b>\u00a0<\/b>overall on the swimming side, with a number of quality performances in the pool. <strong>Ana Hazelhurst, Ellie Schinsky<\/strong> and <strong>Sofia Bartoloni<\/strong> all finished first in multiple races. <strong>Megan Fox, Emilliana Gonzalez<\/strong> and <strong>Angelica Bath<\/strong> all had one first place finish apiece. Rutgers also finished first in two relays.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The diving program had a strong showing after being ranked as the No. 6 diving program in the nation this week in a preseason coaches poll. The Scarlet Knights had the top four placements on both the 1M and the 3M boards. <strong>Amelia Scott<\/strong> won the 3M event, while <strong>Katerina Hoffman<\/strong> placed first in the 1M. Scott (sixth all-time) and Sturgill (eighth all-time) both set placements on RU\u2019s all-time top tens with personal best scores.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Notable performances<\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><i>Swimming<\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Newcomer and Big Ten Preseason Swimmer to Watch <strong>Ana Hazlehurst<\/strong> won the 200 yard freestyle in 1:52.21, finishing first by more than two seconds. She also won the 400 Yard IM, finishing in 4:26.46.<\/li>\n<li>A pair of RU newcomers finished 1-2 in the 50 yard freestyle. Freshman <strong>Emilliana Gonzalez<\/strong> won the event in 23.31, while <strong>Anna Vlachou<\/strong> finished just behind her in 23.58.<\/li>\n<li>Rutgers also saw a 1-3 finish with two newcomers in the 200 yard backstroke. A transfer from the University of Toronto, <strong>Angelica Bath<\/strong> won the event in 2:02.52, while freshman <strong>Goksu Dogan<\/strong> finished third.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ellie Schinsk<\/strong>y won the 200 yard butterfly at 2:04.30, while teammate <strong>Cam Kuriger<\/strong> was just behind her at 2:04.44<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sofia Bartoloni<\/strong> won the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke, while freshman <strong>Emily Volchansky<\/strong> placed second in the 200 and third in the 100.<\/li>\n<li>RU touched the wall first in the 200-yard Medley Relay.<\/li>\n<li>Rutgers had the first three swimmers in the 100 yard butterfly, with <strong>Ellie Schinsky<\/strong> winning the event at 55.90, followed closely by newcomer<strong> Anna Vlachou<\/strong> (55.92) and <strong>Cam Kuriger<\/strong> taking third.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><i>Diving<\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>RU had the top four scores on 3M diving, with <strong>Amelia Scott, Katerina Hoffman, Bailee Sturgill<\/strong> and <strong>Sephora Ford<\/strong> all collecting NCAA Qualifying Scores.<\/li>\n<li>On the 3M, Amelia Scott and Bailee Sturgill each had personal records and top-ten all-time finishes at Rutgers, with Scott placing sixth and Sturgill placing eighth.<\/li>\n<li>On the 1M, Rutgers also took first (Katerina Hoffman), second (Sephora Ford), third (Bailee Sturgill) and fourth (Amelia Scott).
