Virginia Tech Cruises in Dual Meet Against George Washington<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Virginia Tech Hokies traveled to take on George Washington in a Saturday dual meet and had no trouble leaving with a pair of wins. The men’s team came out on top 212-87 while the women’s score was nearly identical, 211-89.<\/p>\n

The Hokie<\/a> men kicked things off with\u00a0Brendan Whitfield<\/strong>,\u00a0Eli Martin<\/strong>,\u00a0Landon Gentry<\/strong> and\u00a0Will Hayon<\/strong> combining for a time of 1:27.46 in the 200 medley relay. Whitfield paced the 200 freestyle in 1:36.70, with\u00a0Andy Roose<\/strong> coming in just ahead of teammates\u00a0Levente Balogh<\/strong> and\u00a0Connor Johnson<\/strong> in the 100 backstroke, clocking 49.18. Martin was victorious in the 100 breaststroke (55.03), and the 200 butterfly went to Gentry in 1:47.43.\u00a0Tanish George Mathew<\/strong> was first in the 50 free (20.64).<\/p>\n

Whitfield captured his second win of the day with a strong time of 42.87 in the 100 free, and the 200 back belonged to Roose in 1:45.89. Martin won again in the 200 breast (2:00.28), followed by\u00a0Jakub Poliacik<\/strong> taking first in the 500 free (4:28.39). Gentry completed the fly double with a 100-yard time of 47.86. Rocky Ramsland<\/strong> won 1-meter diving (355.28), and teammate\u00a0Nathan Cox<\/strong> was first on 3-meter (318.75). The 200 IM went to Martin in another tight race with a time of 1:49.65 before the meet concluded with Whitfield, George Mathew, Poliacik and\u00a0Diego Aranda<\/strong>\u00a0taking the 400 free relay (2:57.90).<\/p>\n

George Washington’s\u00a0Daniel Choi\u00a0<\/strong>was the winner of the 1000 free (9:19.03), the team’s only event winner on the men’s side.<\/p>\n
