The McKendree Swim and Dive team has officially named Jackson Lustig<\/strong> as its graduate assistant for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n

After ending his amazing swimming career here at McKendree, Lustig is looking to now make an impact on the coaching side. With already having experience coaching at the Seahawks Swim Club and O’Fallon Breakers Summer League Team, he is bringing that experience to the collegiate level of coaching. Lustig is quoted on the opportunity saying,<\/p>\n

“It feels great to be here as a coach, especially standing on deck with Jimmy and Noah. Every session, I make it a priority to help as many athletes as I can so they can reach their goals just like I once did. It really feels like things have come full circle. I spent my time at McKendree looking up to my coaches, and now I get the chance to be that person for the upcoming athletes. I’m honored to stay with the program and excited to see what this season has in store”<\/em><\/p>\n

At McKendree he was a very accomplished swimmer as he currently holds the NCAA D2 Record for the 200-yard butterfly (1:40.75) and was a part of the NCAA record setting D2 400-yard medley relay team. Lustig also earned three consecutive championships in the 200-yard butterfly and two consecutive 400 medley relay championships.<\/p>\n

Within the conference, he dominated, earning nine Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) championships competing in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly, 200 individual medley and 200 and 400-yard medley relay. He was also a 2023-24 First Team CSCAA All-American and was named captain of the team his junior and senior year. Head Coach Jimmy Tierney<\/strong> gives his thoughts saying,<\/p>\n

“We are extremely excited to have Jack continue his tenure at McKendree. He has given so much to this program as a student and athlete already, and we are thrilled to see that continue here. Jack was always a student of the sport, so I have no doubt that he has much to share with the team this season. He will make a difference for us!”<\/p>\n

Lustig graduated from McKendree in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and made the Dean’s List three times and the President’s List once. This earned him a spot on the Academic All-GLVC in the 2023-24 season. He is now working towards his masters in performance psychology and leadership at McKendree.<\/p>\n
