Of the athletes who earned those pieces of hardware, many competed at this summer&#8217;s World Championships in Singapore. However, several medalists did not compete for a variety of reasons (retirement, rest, injury), while some athletes, such as France&#8217;s Leon Marchand, opted for a scaled-back program.<\/p>\n<p>When calculating the numbers between Paris and Singapore, 40.47 percent (17-for-42) of the men&#8217;s medalists from the Olympics returned to the podium in the same event.
