Former Bloomsburg University Coach Stu Marvin Captures Silver Medal in 50 Freestyle at World Masters Champs<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former Bloomsburg University coach Stu Marvin<\/strong>, who was at the helm of the Pennsylvania program for 15 years, has enjoyed a strong showing at the World Masters Championships in Singapore. The meet is being contested at the same venue that hosted the World Championships, which wrapped up a little more than a week ago.<\/p>\n

Competing in the 70-74 age group, Marvin collected a silver medal in the 50-meter freestyle, clocking a time of 29.36. The 50 free was his focus event for the competition, but Marvin also exited the meet with a pair of fourth-place finishes. Representing Swim Fort Lauderdale, he was timed in 1:07.84 for the 100 freestyle and went 38.45 in the 50 backstroke.<\/p>\n

Marvin has been joined in Singapore by his wife, Meg, and their son, Matthew. Meg Marvin<\/strong> is the Honoree and Olympian Liaison for the International Swimming Hall of Fame<\/a>. The Hall of Fame recently held its 60th induction ceremony in Singapore, with Meg coordinating the gala with World Aquatics and the World Championships. Meanwhile, Matthew Marvin<\/strong> competed in the 25-29 age group at the World Masters Champs, registering personal-best times in each of his events.<\/p>\n

Stu Marvin was the head coach of the Bloomsburg men’s and women’s programs from 2008-2023 and led his alma mater to a combined 15 runnerup finishes at the PSAC Championships. In 2021, the men’s squad captured the PSAC crown. Marvin’s athletes combined for 41 conference championships during his tenure and he was named PSAC Coach of the Year six times. During his athletic career at Bloomsburg, Marvin was an 11-time All-American and five-time conference titlist.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
