{"id":620758,"date":"2025-08-12T11:15:55","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T18:15:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=620758"},"modified":"2025-08-13T06:23:50","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T13:23:50","slug":"michael-phelps-visits-ravens-training-camp-after-promise-to-teach-players-to-swim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/michael-phelps-visits-ravens-training-camp-after-promise-to-teach-players-to-swim\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Phelps Visits Ravens Training Camp After Promise to Teach Players to Swim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Michael Phelps Visits Ravens Training Camp After Promise to Teach Players to Swim<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Olympic champion <strong>Michael Phelps<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/michael-phelps-to-teach-baltimore-ravens-to-swim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promised<\/a> to teach swim lessons to the Baltimore Ravens.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, he joined the NFL team at training camp.<\/p>\n<p>Phelps responded to a social media post by Baltimore&#8217;s <strong>Marlon Humphrey<\/strong>, among others, asking him to help the team learn to swim after finding out that about a third of the players couldn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>A huge Ravens fan his whole life, and Baltimore native, Phelps replied to Humphrey&#8217;s social media post with, &#8220;I got yall!!! Let&#8217;s do it!!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Phelps took a tour of the Ravens&#8217; new recovery pool, which was part of the team&#8217;s offseason renovation project at the Under Armour Performance Center, and watched practice.<\/p>\n<p>The 23-time Olympic gold medalist then took to the pool with the players and the lessons began &#8211; and got playfully competitive. At one point, Phelps climbed to the blocks and gave several Ravens players a head start before he entered the water and completed a 25-meter swim underwater.<\/p>\n<p>Phelps also took time during his visit to give a motivational speech and gave several Ravens some swim lessons, which is what prompted the entire day in the first place.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Kyle Hamilton can technically say he beat Michael Phelps in a swimming race. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/EqsnxBFFE1\">pic.twitter.com\/EqsnxBFFE1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash;
