Dressel was the 2020 Olympic champion in the 100 fly and owns the world record at 49.45.<\/p>\n<p>On the first day of the meet, Dressel posted a time of 21.94 in the 50 free, which was third to Aussie <strong>Jamie Jack<\/strong> (21.63) and American <strong>Hunter Armstrong<\/strong> (21.76). Dressel, a 10-time Olympic medalist, still has the 50 butterfly remaining on his schedule for the week, with that event scheduled for Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>If Dressel contests the 50 butterfly, he still has an opportunity to qualify for next summer\u2019s Pan Pacific Championships, to be held in Southern California. Dressel would need to post a time faster than 23.21 to bump Michael Andrew from the event.<\/p>\n<p>Whether Dressel is even looking at racing at Pan Pacs is unknown. After the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Dressel indicated an interest in pursuing a spot on Team USA for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, specifically in the 50 freestyle. However, he has not expressed whether he is targeting a 2026 international meet, which would be Pan Pacs. The TYR Championships mark Dressel&#8217;s third competition since the Paris Games.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swmeets.com\/Realtime\/TYRChamps\/2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet
