Daniel Wiffen Withdraws From Worlds, Citing Appendicitis Recovery<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ireland Olympic gold medalist Daniel Wiffen<\/strong> has withdrawn from the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, citing the bout of appendicitis he battled last month.<\/p>\n

Wiffen\u2019s withdrawal is officially on medical grounds. Swim Ireland announced it on Thursday at the conclusion of the fifth day of the meet, ruling Wiffen out of the men\u2019s 1,500 freestyle.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust to let everyone know I have medically withdrawn from the World Championships in Singapore due to the appendicitis that I suffered from in June,\u201d Wiffen said in a statement. \u201cThank you for all the support in last night\u2019s final. I wasn\u2019t physically at my best, but I will be working towards getting back to full fitness and winning shape soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
