Junior Nationals Day 1: Long Island’s Sean Green Shatters Meet Record in 1500 Free<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The USA Speedo Junior National Championships kicked off from Irvine, California.<\/p>\n

The first day of the meet saw finals in the men’s and women’s 200 butterfly, 50 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and the 200 free relay, the women’s 800 free and the men’s 1500 free.<\/p>\n

Here is a look at what happened on Day 1:<\/p>\n

Junior Nationals: Women’s 200 Butterfly<\/h2>\n

SwimMAC Carolina’s Caroline Mallard<\/strong> opened the first night of finals with a win in the 200 fly. The 17-year-old got to the wall in 2:10.05, dropping two seconds from prelims.<\/p>\n

Jersey Wahoos’ Alyce Lehman<\/strong> finished second in 2:10.82, the only other swimmer in the field to break 2:11.<\/p>\n

Bellevue’s Clare Watson<\/strong> took third in 2:11.83, Tennessee Aquatics’ Ellie Stanley<\/strong> was fourth, Fishers Area’s Emily Wolf<\/strong> was fifth (2:12.31), followed by Quest’s Emerson Callis<\/strong> (2:13.83), Mecklenburg’s Tayler Klein<\/strong> (2:14.37) and Lake Oswego’s Annemare Vliac (<\/strong>2:14.77).<\/p>\n

Long Island’s Sean Green<\/strong> shattered the meet record in the men’s 1500 freestyle. Green won the event in 15:07.49, breaking the previous mark of 15:16.62 set by Johannes Calloni<\/strong> of Scarlet Aquatics in 2016.<\/p>\n
The dominating performance won by 15 seconds.<\/p>\n
Tsunami Swim Team’s Ellis Crisci t<\/strong>ook second in 15:22.95, followed by teammate Whitaker<\/strong> Stewart<\/strong> (15:26.92).<\/p>\n
