The 22-year-old got to the wall in 26.42 to earn the top seed in the semifinals.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s <strong>Taku Taniguchi<\/strong> was 23 hundredths of a second behind at 26.65 to take the second deed.<\/p>\n<p>German&#8217;s <strong>Melvin Imoudu<\/strong> grabbed the third seed in 26.64, followed by <strong>Kirill Prigoda<\/strong> (26.76), <strong>Ivan Kozhakin<\/strong> (26.77), South Africa&#8217;s <strong>Chris Smith<\/strong> (26.82), <strong>Ronan Wantenaar<\/strong> (26.75) and <strong>Ilya Shymanovich<\/strong>, who rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<p>Also advancing was Italy&#8217;s <strong>Nicolo Martinenghi<\/strong> (26.90) and Netherlands&#8217; <strong>Caspar Corbeau<\/strong> (26.94), who placed ninth and 10th, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>There were no U.S. swimmers to make the semifinals with <strong>Campbell McKean<\/strong> finishing 24th (27.32) and <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> taking 25th (27.37).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" 200 free.<\/p>\n<p>The 21-year-old was third after the 50, but turned at the halfway point in the lead at 56.76 before finishing in 1:56.54.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Erin Gemmell<\/strong> was two tenths back with a swim of 1:56.74, putting her in prime position for the semifinals.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s <strong>Mollie O&#8217;Callaghan<\/strong>, the Olympic champion in the event, took the third seed in 1:57.04, right in the mix as well.<\/p>\n<p>Her compatriot <strong>Jamie Perkins<\/strong> grabbed the fourth seed in 1:57.08, followed by Czech Republic&#8217;s <strong>Barbora Seemanova<\/strong> (1:57.13), China&#8217;s<strong> Liu Yaxin<\/strong> (1:57.33) and U.S. teen <strong>Claire Weinstein<\/strong> (1:57.38).<\/p>\n<p>There was a three-way tie for the eighth with South Africa&#8217;s <strong>Aimee<\/strong> <strong>Canny<\/strong>, Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Freya<\/strong> <strong>Colbert<\/strong> and Canada&#8217;s<strong> Ella Jansen<\/strong> all finishing in 1:57.53.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s <strong>Li Bingjie<\/strong> (1:57.57) and Canada&#8217;s <strong>Mary<\/strong>&#8211;<strong>Sophie Harvey<\/strong> (1:57.72).<\/p>\n<p><img \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>World Championships: Men&#8217;s 200 Butterfly<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Luca Urlando<\/strong> pulled ahead at the halfway point to claim the top seed in the 200 fly.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. champion got to the wall in 1:52.71, the only swimmer in the field to reach the 150 mark under 1:22 (1:21.95).<\/p>\n<p>Poland&#8217;s <strong>Krzysztof Chmielewski<\/strong> was the other swimmer in the field to break 1:53, going a 1:52.89 to take the second seed into semifinals.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s <strong>Ilya Kharun<\/strong> took the third spot in 1:53.74 with a strong opening 50 (24.49) that lead the field.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s <strong>Chen Juner<\/strong> and Italy&#8217;s <strong>Alberto Razzetti<\/strong> tied for the fourth seed at 1:54.54, ahead of Japan&#8217;s <strong>Genki Terakado<\/strong> (1:54.64).<\/p>\n<p>Poland&#8217;s other twin, <strong>Michal Chmielewski<\/strong>, took the seventh seed in 1:54.68.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. star <strong>Carson nearly a second faster than the rest of the field.<\/p>\n<p>He will lead the finals ahead of Australia&#8217;s <strong>Samuel Short<\/strong>, who finished in 7:42.22, and Germany&#8217;s <strong>Sven Schwarz<\/strong> (7:43.60).<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Bobby Finke<\/strong> turned in a swim of 7:44.02 for the fourth seed heading into finals and will be right in the mix as always.<\/p>\n<p>Sweden&#8217;s <strong>Victor Johansson<\/strong> (7:44.81), Turkey&#8217;s <strong>Kuzey Tuncelli<\/strong> (7:45.13), Germany&#8217;s <strong>Lukas<\/strong> <strong>Martens<\/strong> (7:45.54) and Ireland&#8217;s <strong>Daniel Wiffen<\/strong> (7:46.36) rounded out the finalists.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
