World Championships, Day One Men’s Semifinals: Maxime Grousset Speeds to Top Seed in 50 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n

Although the women’s events were dotted with unfortunate stortylines (illness; DQ by Erika Fairweather) during the first prelims session at the World Championships in Singapore, the men’s events were quieter – except for the speed on display. The 50-meter butterfly and 100 breaststroke featured several strong performances, and now the athletes in those disciplines will look to continue their momentum.<\/p>\n

The first night of competition at the World Champs features men’s semifinals in the 50 fly and 100 breaststroke. France’s Maxime Grousset and Switzerland’s Noe Ponti are the top seeds in the 50 fly while Russia’s Kirill Prigoda is the top seed in the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n
