The stomach bug that has circulated through the U.S. swim camp apparently claimed Claire Weinstein<\/strong> among its number on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Weinstein scratched the women\u2019s 400 freestyle on the opening day of the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.<\/p>\n

A stomach bug has been circulating through the U.S. team, delaying the travel of some athletes from their staging camp in Thailand and seeming to impact the performances of those in Singapore. USA Swimming, after the first preliminary session, announced that it was a case<\/a> of acute gastroenteritis that affected certain members of the team, though the organization didn’t mention specific names.<\/p>\n

That group presumably included Torri Huske<\/strong> skipping the 100 butterfly Sunday, though she\u2019s expected to swim in the 400 freestyle relay<\/a>. Both male distance swimmers in the 400 free missed the eight-man final, with Rex Maurer<\/strong> 11th in 3:46.38, three seconds slower than he was at trials, and teen Luka Mijatovic<\/strong> struggling to 36th. His time of 3:59.68 was nearly 14 seconds slower than he was at trials.<\/p>\n
