Earning the top seed for the final was Russia&#8217;s <strong>Nikolai Kolesnikov<\/strong>, who is competing as a Neutral Athlete. Kolesnikov touched the wall in 3:48.75, which was just .06 quicker than the morning performance of American <strong>Ryan Erisman<\/strong> (3:48.81). Meanwhile, <strong>Ole Mats Eidam<\/strong> and <strong>Bjorn Kammann<\/strong> qualified first and third, respectively, for the semifinals at the World University Games. Eidam led the way in 23.33 while Kammann was third in 23.53. In between was Uzbekistan&#8217;s <strong>Eldorbek Usmonov<\/strong>, who was timed in 23.40. The North Carolina State standout went 2:09.64 for the only morning effort under 2:10. Shackley led from start to finish in her heat and was followed as the second-fastest athlete in the morning by Korea&#8217;s <strong>Lee Eunji<\/strong>, who went 2:10.51. That mark was slightly ahead of the 3:15.12 of Japan. South Africa went 3:17.61 for the third seed.
