World Championships: Women’s 10k Open-Water Event Postponed Due to Poor Water-Quality Levels<\/strong><\/p>\n

One day before open-water competition was set to begin at the World Championships in Singapore, World Aquatics<\/a> and the Singapore 2025 Organizing Committee have announced that the women’s 10k event has been postponed due to poor water-quality levels. The women’s 10k was scheduled to start at 8 a.m. (local time) on July 15, but testing of the water led to the postponement. The World Aquatics Sports Medicine Committee and World Aquatics Open Water Swimming Technical Committee were also involved in the decision.<\/p>\n

Testing over the past few days has met World Aquatics’ acceptable thresholds for competition, but a water sample taken on July 13 did not. The women’s 10k race will now be held on July 16, following the men’s race. Men’s action will begin at 7:30 a.m. local time, with the women’s race scheduled to start at 10:15 a.m.<\/p>\n

In its press release, the governing body stated: “World Aquatics regrets the inconvenience caused by the postponement and acknowledges the commitment and preparation of all athletes, coaches, and teams. The health and safety of participants remain the highest priority in all competition-related decisions.”<\/p>\n
