Olympic Medalist Elizabeth Beisel Joins AOAP as Water Safety Spokesperson<\/strong><\/p>\n

Olympic medalist and broadcaster Elizabeth Beisel<\/strong> has joined the Association of Aquatic Professionals (AOAP) as a water safety spokesperson.<\/p>\n

Beisel will lead the AOAP\u2019s national efforts in promoting water safety, preventing drowning and increasing access to aquatic experiences and education. Beisel has a long history of working with water safety causes and in expanding access to aquatic opportunities, including ocean conservation and open water safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrowing up in Rhode Island near the ocean water safety has always been at the forefront of my community but not everyone grows up with that privilege which is why I\u2019m so passionate about spreading education around water safety,\u201d Beisel said in a press release<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m so excited to partner with AOAP to help amplify their crucial messaging around this initiative that I know will help save lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beisel will collaborate with AOAP\u2019s existing programs to amplify critical messaging about water safety, participate in public service initiatives and engage with aquatics professionals across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cElizabeth\u2019s credibility as an elite athlete is matched by her authenticity and passion for advocacy,\u201d said Juliene Hefter,<\/strong> Executive Director and CEO of the Association of Aquatic Professionals. \u201cWe are thrilled to welcome her into the AOAP family and believe her voice will have a tremendous impact on how we reach new audiences with life-saving education.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beisel is a three-time Olympian for the U.S., winning silver in the 400 individual medley and bronze in the 200 backstroke at the London Olympics in 2012, among five top-six finishers in her individual Olympic events. She won gold in the 400 IM at the 2011 World Championships plus three golds at the Pan Pacific Championships and a decorated career at the University of Florida. Beisel is a broadcaster for both ESPN and NBC Sports swimming events as well as a podcaster, author and influential voice in the swimming community<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Association of Aquatic Professionals is a non-profit serving the aquatics industry, providing free water safety and drowning prevention materials for organizations, parents and caregivers.<\/p>\n
