{"id":616422,"date":"2025-07-04T16:53:57","date_gmt":"2025-07-04T23:53:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=616422"},"modified":"2025-07-04T16:53:57","modified_gmt":"2025-07-04T23:53:57","slug":"princeton-hires-emmett-adams-as-womens-assistant-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/princeton-hires-emmett-adams-as-womens-assistant-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Princeton Hires Emmett Adams as Women\u2019s Assistant Coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Princeton Hires Emmett Adams as Women\u2019s Assistant Coach<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Princeton this week announced the hiring of <strong>Emmett Adams<\/strong> as an assistant coach for the women\u2019s swimming and diving team.<\/p>\n<p>Adams is fresh off his swimming career, part of the NCAA championship 200 medley relay at Tufts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-division-iii-championships-nyu-up-as-challengers-rattle-off-1-2-results\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in March\u2019s Division III Championships<\/a>. He was an 11-time All-American, who also finished eighth in the 100 breast as a senior at NCAAs.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/ivy-league-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ivy League Swimming News<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cI am incredibly honored and excited to be joining the Princeton swimming and diving program as an assistant coach,\u201d Adams said <a href=\"https:\/\/goprincetontigers.com\/news\/2025\/6\/30\/womens-swimming-and-diving-emmett-adams-named-womens-swimming-diving-assistant-coach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a press release<\/a>. \u201cI want to begin by thanking Coach\u00a0Brethauer, the athletic department, and everyone involved in the hiring process for this incredible opportunity. Princeton\u2019s tradition of excellence, both academically and athletically, makes it a truly special place. I\u2019m eager to get started, support these athletes, and contribute to a program with such a rich and inspiring legacy. Go Tigers!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adams is a NESCAC record holder and left Tufts with five school records. The native of Fairfield, Conn., coached at the Commonwealth Current in Boston the last two summers, as well as the Westport Stars and Black Rock Yacht Club. He worked as a counselor at college swim camps hosted by the University of Texas, the United States Naval Academy and Fairfield University.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmmett brings an exceptional combination of competitive achievement and coaching expertise that will be invaluable to our program,\u201d Princeton head coach <strong>Abby Brethauer<\/strong> said. \u201cHis experience working with swimmers at every level, from youth development to elite competitors, along with his understanding of what it takes to compete at the highest levels collegiately, will help our student-athletes reach their full potential both in the pool and in the classroom. His commitment to mental health awareness and creating inclusive environments aligns perfectly with our team values.
