It\u2019s well slower than the time she had in the same IU Natatorium water at U.S. National Championships to finish second and reach Worlds.<\/p>\n<p>Texas\u2019 <strong>Piper Enge<\/strong> was second in 1:08.03, with <strong>Mia Cheatwood.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inswimming.org\/czinlsc\/UserFiles\/Image\/QuickUpload\/2025-indy-summer-cup-meet-announcement-final_074218.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Information<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The second day of the four-day meet served as a tune-up for many headed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-nationals-roster-announced-for-singapore-world-championships-jillian-cox-in-kieran-smith-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to Worlds later this summer<\/a>. That includes Worlds qualifiers in events they may not be swimming.<\/p>\n<p>Enter <strong>Regan Smith,<\/strong> who won the women\u2019s 100 butterfly with a time of 56.52. That\u2019s the ninth-fastest time in the world in 2025, quicker than the 56.61 that <strong>Torri Huske<\/strong> used to secured <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-nationals-gretchen-walsh-swims-second-fastest-time-ever-in-100-butterfly-at-54-76\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the second spot at Worlds at U.S. Nationals behind<\/a> <strong>Gretchen Walsh\u2019s<\/strong> meet record.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ella Welch<\/strong> was a distant second in 59.02.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leon Marchand<\/strong> got a race under his belt, going 59.95 to win the 100 breaststroke. That\u2019s his second-fastest time ever (he was 59.06 at the CA Nova Speedo Grand Challenge in May). Marchand bested American Worlds qualifier <strong>Josh Matheny,<\/strong> who went 1:00.27. Third was <strong>Nate Germonprez<\/strong> in 1:00.68.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s 200 free featured two relay qualifiers for Singapore. <strong>Anna Peplowski,<\/strong> who is on that prospective 800 free relay, won in 1:56.88, followed by <strong>Simone Manuel,<\/strong> who went 1:56.90. That\u2019s Manuel\u2019s first 1:56 since the TYR Pro Swim Series in Des Moines in the first week of March 2020, and it\u2019s the second fastest of her career (she went 1:56.09 at the 2019 World Championships).<\/p>\n<p>Third place went to <strong>Summer Cardwell<\/strong> in 2:00.27. Manuel also finished third in the 100 fly with a time of 1:00.28.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shaine Casas<\/strong> scored a potential Worlds preview victory over Hungary\u2019s <strong>Hubert Kos<\/strong> in the 100 fly. Casas went 51.10 \u2013 he was 50.51 in winning at Nationals \u2013 to best Kos\u2019 51.59. <strong>Carson Foster<\/strong> was third in 52.92.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chris Guiliano<\/strong> won the men\u2019s 200 free in 1:47.72 (he was quicker in prelims at 1:47.37). That bested among others the winner at U.S. Nationals, <strong>Luke Hobson,<\/strong> who was fourth in 1:48.76. In between came <strong>Baylor Nelson<\/strong> in 1:48.44. <strong>Rex Maurer<\/strong> finished third in 1:48.45.<\/p>\n<p>While Foster did not swim the 400 IM, the other American headed to Worlds did, Maurer going 4:17.84 to best Nelson (4:21.36) by 3.5 seconds. <strong>Jackson Millard<\/strong> was third in 4:22.43.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kim Herkle<\/strong> wrapped up the night by winning the 400 IM in 4:51.36, two tenths slower than she had been in prelims. <strong>Mackenzie Hodges<\/strong> was second in 4:52.25.<\/p>\n<p>In Wednesday\u2019s timed distance finals, Olympian <strong>David Johnston<\/strong> won the men\u2019s 1,500 free in 15:29.00. That\u2019s more than 30 seconds slower than the time he used to book a place at the World Championships in Singapore via 2025 Trials in this same pool<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wesley Drake<\/strong> was second, followed by <strong>Thomas Brunner<\/strong> and Ohio State-based Canadian international <strong>Alex Axon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kate Hurst<\/strong> won the women\u2019s 800 free with a time of 8:37.94. She was well ahead of runner-up <strong>Reagan Mattice,<\/strong> the Purdue swimmer setting a best time of 8:48.78. <strong>Adele Sands<\/strong> finished third.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lilly King Gets One More Win at Indy Summer Cup;
