THE Auburn University men's and women's swim teams repeated as unanimous choices for the top spot in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) polls, released last night.

The defending NCAA champs garnered all eight of the first-place votes in both the men's and women's polls. However, below the top rung, there was some shuffling of teams, particularly among the men.

Men's Rankings
Texas moved into the #2 spot from #3, switching places with Stanford, by the slimmest of margins — one point.

The Georgia Bulldogs made the biggest move among the top 10, vaulting from tenth place to 7th. Michigan dropped from seventh to eighth, while Minnesota fell from eighth to ninth. Virginia rounds out the elite 10 teams, improving from 11th to tenth.

By far the most impressive improvement was scored by Washington — a team that barely survived the ax just two years ago. The Huskies leaped from 25th place two weeks ago all the way to a tie for 14th. Texas A&M improved from 15th to 13th.

Making their first appearance this year in the top 25 are Kentucky (21) and Clemson (25).

Dropping out of the top 25 are the two Ivy League powers, Harvard and Princeton.

Women's Rankings
There was far less movement over the past fortnight among the women. The top nine teams retained their places, with Florida ranking second, Georgia third, Stanford fourth and USC fifth. Wisconsin improved two places to grab the 10th spot, trading places with Penn State.

Virginia, Washington and Hawaii each moved up one notch: The Cavs from 18th to a tie for 17th, the Huskies from 22nd to 21st, and the Rainbows from 25th to 24th.

Tennessee, 24th two weeks ago, fell out of the top 25, while Minnesota, unranked in the previous poll, took the 25th spot.

MEN’S DIVISION I RANKINGS
1 Auburn (8) 200
2 Texas 186
3 Stanford 185
4 California 181
5 Southern Cal 168
6 Florida 152
7 Georgia 151
8 Michigan 150
9 Minnesota 131
10 Arizona 120
11 Virginia 119
12 Tennessee 111
13 Texas A&M 97
14 Washington 84
14 Wisconsin 84
16 Arizona State 81
17 Hawaii 73
18 Pittsburgh 63
19 Brigham Young 59
20 Northwestern 51
21 Kentucky 29
21 North Carolina 29
23 Florida State 26
24 Indiana 20
25 Clemson 14

    Others receiving votes
Harvard 13
Princeton 6
Iowa 2
SMU 1

WOMEN’S DIVISION I RANKINGS
1 Auburn (8) 200
2 Florida 191
3 Georgia 185
4 Stanford 176
5 Southern Cal 168
6 Texas 160
7 Arizona 152
8 SMU 141
9 California 139
10 Wisconsin 126
11 UCLA 121
12 Penn State 108
13 Arizona State 102
13 Indiana 102
15 North Carolina 88
16 Michigan 73
17 Texas A&M 69
17 Virginia 69
19 Notre Dame 56
20 Florida State 51
21 Washington 35
22 Maryland 32
23 Missouri 24
24 Hawaii 11
25 Minnesota 9

    Others receiving votes
Tennessee 7
Alabama 1

(Courtesy College Swimming Coaches Association of America)

By Phillip Whitten COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., November 13.
