He also spent four years as an assistant coach at Scottsdale Aquatic Club and was a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Arizona from 2011-14 under Eric Hansen and 2015-16 at Arizona State with Bob Bowman.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Andrew knows exactly what it takes to compete \u2014 and win \u2014 at the highest level,&#8221; Brown said <a href=\"https:\/\/uwbadgers.com\/news\/2025\/6\/18\/womens-swimming-diving-badger-swimming-adds-johno-fergusson-to-staff.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a press release<\/a>. &#8220;He&#8217;s been a force on the international stage for Team USA, and despite everything he&#8217;s accomplished, what stands out most is his love for coaching. He&#8217;s passionate about helping others grow and perform at their best. His energy and experience are going to take our diving program to the next level here in Madison.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Fergusson began coaching in his home country at Sunday Tribune Penguins Swimming Club in Pietermaritzburg. He was there from 2005-11, coaching several leading South African swimmers as well as international swimmers from neighboring countries in southern Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Fergusson is married to the former <strong>Maggie Meyer,<\/strong> a Wisconsin Athletics Hall of Famer who swam for the Badgers from 2008-11. Meyer was an 11-time All-American, the 2011 NCAA champion in the 200 backstroke and that year\u2019s Big Ten Conference Women\u2019s Swimmer of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>Fergusson joins the inaugural staff for Brown, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/wisconsin-names-jack-brown-as-head-coach-to-replace-yuri-suguiyama\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hired in May<\/a> to replace <strong>Yuri Suguiyama.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wisconsin Hires Johno Fergusson as Assistant Coach Wisconsin on Wednesday announced the hiring of Johno Fergusson as an assistant coach to head man Jack Brown.
