Ahead of the World Aquatics Championships \u2013 Singapore 2025, World Aquatics announce an exclusive, multi-year collaboration with leading global swimwear and equipment brand TYR.<\/p><\/div>\n

Jack Hallahan:<\/strong> TYR is now the exclusive global supplier for World Aquatics through 2029, with the partnership kicking off at the World Championships in Singapore. Who initiated the partnership \u2014 and why was now the right moment?<\/p>\n

Matt DiLorenzo:<\/strong> There had been mutual conversations for a long time, but post-Olympics, it really gained momentum. They were proactive, and their vision aligned with ours. It just made sense. We had great discussions with Brent Nowicki, Mike Unger, and others at World Aquatics. Our European team was also very involved. It all came together early this year.<\/p>\n

Expanding Sprint Formats and Athlete Opportunity<\/h3>\n

Hallahan:<\/strong> World Aquatics is expanding sprint formats \u2014 new 50s, knockout rounds, more action. How does TYR see this impacting the sport and your athlete roster?<\/p>\n

DiLorenzo:<\/strong> It\u2019s great for the sport. These are exciting events \u2014 they bring energy and media attention. Sprint formats help extend careers and open more Olympic pathways. From a product standpoint, we continue to innovate for sprinters. And with more focus on dryland and power training, our CXT line becomes even more relevant.<\/p>\n

NIL, NCAA Uncertainty, and the Pyramid of Opportunity<\/h3>\n

Hallahan:<\/strong> Let\u2019s talk about college swimming and NIL. The House settlement is shaking up the NCAA landscape. How do you see that affecting the sport\u2019s development pipeline and TYR\u2019s role in it?<\/p>\n

DiLorenzo:<\/strong> It\u2019s tough. Some athletes may benefit, but many programs could suffer. If schools cut teams, athletes lose their paths. That hurts the sport\u2019s development pipeline. While TYR already supports USA Swimming, clubs, and many colleges, the ecosystem is at risk. Swimming won\u2019t disappear, but its structure may look very different in a few years.<\/p>\n

Hallahan:<\/strong> Do you think brands like TYR can play a bigger role in stabilizing that pipeline?<\/p>\n

DiLorenzo:<\/strong> We already support at many levels, but brands can\u2019t replace institutional funding. Still, we care deeply about the system. We all have a vested interest in seeing it continue.<\/p>\n

Making Swimming More Entertaining<\/h3>\n

Hallahan:<\/strong> One theme that came up in our NCAA meetings was making swimming more exciting. What\u2019s your view on new formats or exhibition-style events?<\/p>\n

DiLorenzo:<\/strong> I\u2019m all for it. We need new formats \u2014 more tension, better storytelling. ISL tried it. Team events, 4- or 6-nation formats, duels \u2014 they all have potential. Fans relate to country and team identity. That\u2019s powerful. We need to give them more of that outside the Olympics.<\/p>\n

The Missing Storytelling Layer<\/h3>\n

Hallahan:<\/strong> Speaking of storytelling \u2014 swimming lags behind other sports in building athlete visibility. What\u2019s missing?<\/p>\n

DiLorenzo:<\/strong> We don\u2019t tell our athletes\u2019 stories enough. There\u2019s no “Hard Knocks” or “Drive to Survive” for swimming. Even athletes who aren\u2019t medalists have great stories. That\u2019s something we want to change \u2014 more media, more content, more access. Our partnership with World Aquatics will help. And that’s also where Swimming World can play a big role \u2014 helping amplify these stories and bring more attention to the people who make the sport special.<\/p>\n

Looking Ahead: “We’re All in”<\/h3>\n

Hallahan:<\/strong> We\u2019re developing new athlete-driven media projects that bring storytelling and branded content to the forefront. Would TYR be open to first-look opportunities for integration or sponsorship tied to those efforts?<\/p>\n

DiLorenzo:<\/strong> Absolutely. That kind of content is exactly where the sport needs to go. If we can help tell compelling athlete stories and align TYR with that narrative, it’s a win for everyone \u2014 fans, brands, and the athletes themselves.<\/p>\n
